I have been importing .NEF RAW images with minimal problems in iphoto 4.0 so is it worth getting iphoto 5 for RAW? Anyone know?

If your having few problems, then spending $79 for iLife '05 is probably not worth it.

If your thinking about spending $79 for iLife '05 just for iPhoto 5, then you might as well save some bucks and buy Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0 (can be had for around $50 or so with rebates occasionally, and more powerful than iPhoto 4/5).

thanks, don't get me wrong, I have photoshop CS, so It's not the editing features.. it's the importation and organization I like in iPhoto, My Nikon D2 came with Nikon View 6 which is a very poorly designed import program. I guess I could try to use the photoshop native browser, but that too just doesn't quite seem as nice as iPhoto for simple organization.

The problem I have with iPhoto is when I import RAW that is taken with the camera in a portrait mode, the file doesn't import properly and I cannot open or edit it with CS..

Thanks anyway..

Just wait a few weeks for real feedback from real users. You will then have your answer.

Ahh, I misunderstood you.

iView might work for you (many people prefer it over iPhoto). I like it, and consider it worth the money.

I guess it comes down to this - If your spending $79 just for iPhoto 5, might as well go upto iView.

Or Lightbox, I forgot about Lightbox, only $25 and maybe exactly what you need - import and organize.

I'll look into iView.. I hope it has a good "mac" like interface however, as I'm not at all impressed with the Nikon View 6.. Looks like a direct port of a PC job..
