can i get windows media player 10 for mac, for free anywhere on the net? versiontracker.com and download.com are only up to 9.

I can download 10 for windows though. Not for mac. So there is a version 10

there is a version 10 for windows.

for mac, ther is a version 9.

Congratulations, you have discovered the kind of assholes that Microsoft are. This is why we Mac users get so annoyed at them. Apple puts out their media products for both platforms and doesn't make them complete sh*t. Microsoft are not that nice.

The big deal with Version 10 for Windows is that it keeps better track of the user's preferences and media habits, and reports to the home office more stealthily. There is perhaps a bit of a technology tweak in 10, but mostly it's just more "better media experience" crap that lets MS know what you're doing.

Also note that Apple does not have the same version number for iTunes on Mac as it does for Windows. I noticed that the update to version 6 for Windows iTunes came out quite a bit before it did for the Mac.
