I just bought OS9 and found out from the installation instructions I can't install from 8.1 but must go to 8.5....can this scam be for real? Must I spend $70 or so to install a system for 1 day? Hopefully, someone out there knows a way around this. Please

The OS 9 CD is bootable. Use the CD to start up your Mac and install OS 9.
(Hold down the "C" key at startup in order to boot from the CD)

Be aware that there are some apps that are not compatible with 9 unless you do an upgrade. MacFixIt used to have a list of them, but it's been so long since 9 came out that I don't know if it's still up. You might check their archive. Be sure to upgrade ATM to the latest version.

Thanks, yoyo52...I don't have a lot of new applications, but will try to hook up with MacFixit.
