Someone broke into my car once
They ignored the radio and the knife in the glove compartment.
Went straight for the apocalypse prep-sized bundle of toilet paper from Costco I hadn’t brought in yet.

Well, when you need toilet paper, you really need it. The substitutes are gone.
Monty Ward catalogs have been gone for a long time. Sears catalogs too. And print newspapers have become uncommon.

Honestly, for that very reason, I would have just given it to them. No need to smash my window.

Stealing toilet paper is weird. I prefer to use the tissue box like toilet paper as opposed to the rolls.
And I love reading print newspapers still.

We have known for a while that controlled burns help prevent wildfires... this story is about the comparison of controlled burn smoke to wildfire smoke on people...

Uh, that happens to be by Jeff Koons, the art world’s enfant terrible for decades and one of the most sought-after artists of today...?
He has some amazing (and some grotesque) stuff.
This was his proposal for the heart of Hamburg’s red-light district:
Yes, that’s two cranes and a giant moustache suspending two inflatable animals.
I thought it was absolutely great, but I’m glad it never happened.
This sculpture is life-size:
More of his stuff:

Looks like forest country, and we're entering fire season here in CA.
Time your camp fires - make sure they've burned out, before leaving them? Quenching them with a bucket is better though.

In the last 12 months I've averaged $2.53/gallon. The last month has been $2.62.

???
$2.53 is a "hey, gas went down today!" price, even here in Indiana.

I’m used to $3.50-$4.00.
I’m also irritated I was out in the burbs a couple days ago and didn’t fill up.

Huh. Just checked, and calculated:
Unleaded gasoline is currently fairly cheap at US$ 6.10 per gallon here.

Weird. I just spent a long weekend in Colorado (far, far from Denver, fwiw) and tanked-up for $2.98/gal. in a 2-gas-station town.

This is why we dumped crude in Boston Harbor.

Ah, Kendallville. Gateway to Ligonier.
Kind of surprised the kid didn't squirt a couple of buggies, while he was at it. Then again, you do not want to get on the wrong side of the Amish up there. Nopenopenope.

The AP didn't do the best title. It was a (stolen) motorcycle chase. The cops may have used cars, but they weren't chasing themselves.
btw, the suspect squirrel has been released. They couldn't figure out how to test it for meth.

I’m sure they discussed planting some in the squirrel’s motorcycle helmet.

G2A, for those who do not know, is a "marketplace" for selling second hand game keys. These are not used, per se, because the keys are one use, but they are re-sold. This used to have some legitimate uses - selling a game code you got bundled with a graphics card, for instance - and some "gray" uses - buying codes in one market where the price is lower and selling them in another. These days, it is mostly straight up illegal - buying codes with stolen credit cards and selling them, with the chargeback hitting the developer who made the game originally. Developers, to a man, hate G2A. They don't care for the legal uses (they sell the games for less in other countries and in bundles with the expectation that this does not affect their primary market in the West) and the illegal ones actively hurt them, with the chargeback fees being painful. Over time, they have been squeezing out the legal uses - game codes are now region-locked, and bundled game codes usually require a hardware check to activate - so G2A is pretty much all credit card fraud now. This is more or less generally known, but people chase bargains, so G2A survives on people fooling themselves that the codes aren't illegal.
About a week or so ago, there was some brouhaha over a developer telling users to rather pirate his games than buy them on G2A, because pirating cost the developer less. G2A responded by promising to refund any chargeback fees from stolen cards ten times over to developers who could prove that they lost money this way. Cynical gamers were less than impressed, expecting that G2A was all talk. This led to the PR offensive continuing, with... this:
https://twitter.com/SomeIndieGames/s...01687141756928
I honestly find this hilarious.

The new Mac Pro has up to 30 MB of cache inside the processor itself. That's more than the HD in my first Mac. Somehow I'm still running out of space.
