Just wondering how long it took for the new mbpro to show up to your door?
I placed an order monday (5 days ago) for a 2.0ghz 15", and the only option I did was matte screen. It's gone from prepared to ship, back to not yet shipped, then they canceled the original order and duplicated... that went to prepared to ship and now back to not yet shipped. Also I feel suckered for paying for expedited shipping

I ordered mine custom built through campus on March 1st.
The computer was shipped 3000 miles up here to the northeast coast and I picked it up on March 10th.

When I ordered mine I was advised to expect 2-3 week delivery time, which seems what I would expect for any CTO. It probably does not matter what you change that makes it a custom order.

Yup paying for expedited shipping on a long-delivery CTO feels like a waste. But whether a stock box or a CTO, the issue is whether or not a few days faster delivery is worth more money to you. No one is suckering us into anything AFAIK.
I bought standard delivery, $4.99 from SmallDog.com. But I did seriously consider paying extra to get it two days sooner. I have literally been waiting years for this new box...

I bought a stock 2.7Ghz i7 13 inch (I was pretty pleased with the specs and any upgrades I'd handle myself after the fact) it took 3 days to ship (5 days since go figure they gave a 3 day ship time when there was a week end right away... sneaky Apple!) then they shipped that and they said it could take up to 8 days, it took 7. (Sadly it arrived in Winnipeg on the Friday evening so I had to spend an entire week end knowing that my computer was in town but not in my hands!)

ok I just cancelled the order. I don't know what I'll do since I really need a portable machine but I just don't feel like giving apple $2k for one.
I called a total of 5 times in the past week and a half. every single person I talked to said it would ship that day. on Monday I was told that a manager said my order would ship that day and it would be at my house wednesday. Guess what I got on wednesday? a generic email saying to expect my macbook at a later date.
I called again and was on hold for 40 minutes and then was told to wait around for a phone call from a specialist "handling my case". So the past two days I've been talking to him and he has no idea why it still hasn't shipped. Finally today I get a call from him and he tells me "it should ship by saturday and you'll receive it thursday next week" yeah right I've heard that before and I'm not waiting close to 3 weeks for it. I already had to cancel a meeting today with a client because I had no way of showing her my progress on building her website.
I guess apple was too busy selling ipad 2's and forgot about me!

My CTO (SSD, matte display) 17" MBP from Smalldog.com was delivered Friday. It took ~ two weeks as expected.

update: I ordered a "CTO" from tekserve on friday (late, after their shipping cut off). had a fedex tracking number on monday morning and it will be here tomorrow.
I use the term CTO lightly since all I ever tried to order was a bone stock 2.0ghz with antiglare screen.

That WAS for the current 2011 model CTO, which I have. It took about 6 days. For $230 off I'd have waiting longer with no problem, either.

There are differences from one CTO to another.
If you want the top of the line CPU, thats going to be custom built in the factory in China with a different logic board. I would imagine any kind of screen upgrade be it high-res or antiglare would also be done in the factory in China but I could be wrong.
Hard drive and RAM upgrades while still technically CTO and subject to the same standard CTO time disclaimer are usually custom built more locally from Stock machines. In the UK for example, simpler CTO options are often done at Apple in Cork, Ireland. As a result, some options don't slow things down very much at all.
