In OS 9 or OS X, how would I go about moving my OS 9 installation to another partition without it losing data or functionality?

I'm sure an OSX finder copy will leave files behind or copy them with the wrong permissions or something. Or is there a way to do that with the finder or some other app?

Download and install Tinker Tool, open Tinker Tool in your system preferences and select "make invisible files visible".

After that just toy with getting all the required files over, maybe restart from another drive or cd/dvd if you get any copy related errors.
