For people not to be confused. This is only for the new ipods and not the older ones.

This update fixed the problems on my 30GB (filled to the brim with music).

The most annoying was the electrostatic pop. FIXED!

A close second was the delay when browsing all 6000 songs in one list. MUCH FASTER!

It sounds just great. I'm very pleased with my new iPod now!

OK, any guesses on the enhanced On-The-Go playlist? It seems the same to me.

I wish that it worked as an On-Deck playlist. That would be cool. In other words, no matter which playlist you are in, if you hold down on a song/album/etc, it will be stuck in a list that is to play next and when that list is empty it goes back to whatever list you were in.

This would let you set up a "party" list, for example, and leave it going at your party. But, say a friend wants to here Tiny Tim's "Tiptoe Through the Tulips", for some odd reason and you obviously don't have it in your party playlist. Then you just add it to your On-Deck playlist. Then it will play when the current song is done and then go back to the "party" playlist when it is finished with the Tiny Tim song.

Wouldn't this be much more useful than a playlist you have to completely manually load every time you re-sync your iPod.

I guess you could just add "party" to your On-The-Go list, but then if you want to listen to another song, you have to wait until the end or until it comes up randomly.

Just thinking out loud... any comments? Especially on what the enhancements actually do...

Is there any DETAILED update information that tells us EXACTLY what was fixed anywhere?

I hate how apple's update info is so vague- for instance, nothing was mentioned about the click between tracks being fixed. It just was.

i think usually there's a knowledge base article about it which details exactly what it does (there is for every OSX update) but the 2.0.1 update isn't on the downloads list on the support page, and this page doesn't seem to exist yet.

how cool is the percentage bar on the ipod while it updates?

will report my findings soon.

---findings---
anyone want to test this for me?

create a playlist on the go with a song or two in it > start the playlist > go off and add more to the playlist and then go back to now playing.

it seems like the on the go playlist dynamically updates now.

any idea what the new backlight thing is?

That;s funny, here in Europe it has changed to red. Seems there is a kind of geographical thing in the system

The calendar problem is fixed also.
It took 2 sync but it worked, no speed problem.
The 3g iPod is just as it should have been.
