There are two ways to handle this:

1. Take the amount of times in all that you've sent out (or taken in) an apple product to be replaced/repaired and divide it by the amount of apple products you have purchased.

2. Go by each machine, at the least, at the most, etc.

This is just an objective poll, kinda interested to see what the results were. If you have anything more to say, please do.

None because I either know what I'm doing, or the fine people here do. Other than that Apple, at least for me, has been a great company that puts out a quality product. Now you should put up a poll for how many times people's PC's have been in service.

Then you're free to vote no issues. I wasn't really asking for opinion, but it's happily welcome.

PCs depend on manufacturer. I've never heard of HP notebooks being known for white spots or misalinged cases, or paint chipping, or overheating, or misaligned trackpad buttons, or who knows what else. lol.

Out of the five macs I have owned, I have only brought one in for service, once. It was my 2nd imac - my daughter crammed about 4 CDs in the drive.

My 1st imac (1st edition bondi) blew it's motherboard but by the time that happened, it wasn't worth the cost of repair. That was earlier this year so it was a good 5-6 years old. I also have a IIsi that still works - it's gotta be about 12 years old.

Zero for the computers, One 15" monitor replaced under warranty even though the one year had expired exactly a week before.

I believe the only times I've needed Apple service were to get a replacement rubber foot for my PB, and way back in the day to get a PRAM battery for my 6100, so I'd say I've had good luck with Apple and reliability issues

Not a single problem with an Apple product yet. My cousin still uses her first Mac, a 1st edition bondi iMac everyday in her doctoral studies for her PhD in audiology.

My Aunt has a HP that has been sent in 4 times for motherboard issues. The 2nd time they gave her a completely new system and the replacement has the same issues.

I had a Acer [ACK!] that had the cd-rom drive die in a month, the monitor go blurry, and the floppy drive lock up.

A co-worker has had Dell at his house almost a dozen times to work on one single computer.

The only PC that I know of that didn't have hardware issues was one I built myself.

But then again, your milage may vary.

only once, when the logic board on my old wallstreet 292 died. since then, between 2 white ibooks, 2 15" tibooks, a 12"pb, and a first-gen fp imac, I've had zero issues (KNOCK ON WOOD!) that needed apple's or anyone's support.

Out of the seven Macs (and one clone) I've bought, I have had to have warranty work done once. Had to replace a mother board on my Sawtooth 450 because of a bad ram slot.

Once. My G3 desktop (less than a year old at the time) needed to have its power supply and AV personality card replaced. Apple sent some dork from CompUSA to to the work and it's been working fine ever since.

Zero. you're poll doesnt make much sense. 0-1 is a choice, then 1-2 is a choice? then 2-3? it should it be "0, 1-2, 3+"

Never had a serious problem with my machines (G4 AGP, iMac DVD, PB5300, 660AV, 7200, 7300,8600)

Fortunately they've all been well behaved.

Finally purchased a powerbook after a three
year wait, (the next revision will be better kind
of wait for three years...)

We can rebuild it...

Got it december last year, Ti-Book 1GHz and
everyone knows what happened in january.
Apple released new portables and my PB disc
drive broke. ( repair No.1 ) About two months
later the display started getting 'screen
artifacts' so in for repair number 2 - brand
new display added ( repair No.2 ). A month
ago it just suddenly went dead, kind of a big
sleep.( repair No.3 ) Hard drive and mother
board swap and it took three weeks.

On monday the power adapter stopped
working and just starting buzzing. It will take
5-10 working days for a replacement to be
shipped out to me.

Never had a problem with any desktop mac
I have owned - both iMacs and towers -

Still have a soft spot for the Ti, just wish it
was not so ill all the time. Road warrior,
more like road kill.

Buying a PB, buy Apple care !

You should have included zero as an option on your poll, as there is a rather large difference between having sent a mac in for a service and, err, not, which isn't recognised by '0-1 times'.

I've never had to return any Macs, and I've had three.

My brother-in-law has an iMac G3 400MHz
And I have noticed wavy lines on it's CRT down
the left hand side. He brought it second hand
about two years ago and came with no

you can have it repaired or you can turn off the G3 processor's cache. either will fix the problem. i always sell my old machine to finance the purchase of my new machine so that imac is long gone...

3 macs, one problem. CAN'T AFFORD ANOTHER ONE!!!

Seriously, 266mhz iMac (no problems), 500Mhz Tibook (loose ribbon to monitor could've been fixed by me, but why? Sent it in for service for free, got if fixed for free and was back in my hands within ONE WEEK!) This was over two years ago and no problems at all since. and lastly a G5 w/ no problems going into week 3.

In short; 3 products-1 problem.

BTW, someone mentioned bad sectors on an iPod hard disk. This is an unfortunate reality-all Hard disks have bad sectors. These are built by man afterall.

My curent Apple hasn't needed any repair at all. One phone calls to Apple for software assistance.

9 apple branded devices over the last 17 years and I've had 1 problem (ipod power connection-apple replaced the ipod).

I am not including issue arising from my own stupidity (cd tray broken from dropping it down wooden stairs).

Two steps forward (six steps back)

Once. But it wasn't really in service. They replaced a keyboard in the Apple Store. Now I'll have to bring it in again, but this time it was kitty error (kitty jumped off desk and onto keyboard, broke it.) iBook.

Once per the following items:

iMac 400 DVSE: changed the faulty HD (after 2 years, I was on a 3 year warranty program)
iBook 466: changed the (very) noisy HD (after 6 months)
TiBook 550: change a faulty HD (after 18 months, on a 3 year warranty program)

Plus one burnt mobo on a Mac8500. But it wasn't mine, was my ex-boss'. Too much carpet everywhere and static abounded. Zap!!! Dead mobo.

HDs suck in macs, then again mine are on 10-16 hours a day. Oh well, hoping for the better with my Albook.

Once for my iPod (covered under the warranty-still my fault!).
Once for my TiBook (NOT covered by Applecare-even though I had AC, it was a liquid spill)! Cost me around $1000.00, but it came back in perfect shape. Also learned a lesson about water and electricity.

Wait before iBook owners poll here. Twice a logical board failure/repair within one week on a (at that time) 51 week old iBook 700. Crossing fingers now.
I'm-a trying to wonder, wonder, wonder why you, wonder, wonder why you act so.

yes, but 300 MB of unusable space on a 5 GB drive is not normal... which is why apple gave me a replacement ipod.
