Geez Missus Roper I've heard a lot about the barbecue, tell me more? Seems that the macnn Lounge has become a hangout for Jesus Freaks, right wing republicans and gay bashers.

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the tech board here, but the Lounge sux.

Is the grass truly greener at the bbq?

Discuss.
this lounge is a poor substitute to the bbq.

Not green as in grass green,

But green as in "My stomach has been upset all day and I have been pooping green. " green.

Jeebus, people. Ig-freaking-nore. Don't let this turn into him against the world, again.

BTW, who's going to drive over to Hank's house and wake him up this time? Diller, I think it's your turn.

I've checked out the BBQ.

I would say that MacNN is more of a working class/college place to hang out.

BBQ is more of a prepubescent, "Daddy, buy me a new G5 and bigger iPod... I cleaned my room this morning" type of place.

If you live on the internet, or just love sucking up to strangers for popularity points, the bbq can't be beat.

It's got its good points. It's nice being able to cuss and express yourself without feeling like the NetNanny's of the world will get their panties in a bunch over it. And in general, the sense of humor is better than here.

But by and large, it has a very inner circle feel to it that isn't so great. The Lounge, for all its faults, is more inclusive. I don't have to cater to a very narrow band of interest in order to be heard here...whereas in the bbq, many people's posts seem to go unnoticed unless and until a member of the inner circle pays attention to it. It can be a self-congratulatory wanktopia in that regard.

So this chick picked me up last night, and took me home to her place. We had a great time and all. When we woke up in the moring, I looked at her and said "Last night is over. Get out." She looked at me with teary eyes and said "But.. I live here!" and I said "You just dont get it, do you?"

Well, considering all of the males have probably had their balls drop, and the females are already married, where are the prepubescent members?

And the daddy/g5/ipod thing is just...I won't even dignify that with an answer

50 days uptime, and one apache crash (which was cured with a single simple command.)

Considering I am not a real Linux head, I'd say I'm doing pretty good.
