wow, you guys are truly dense...
The headline on the article itself and on the main page say (paraphrase): well, now that the hype is over, how do you get it off you hard drive?
except, that they are talking about the Public Beta!!!...People read it thinking its about the retail version and think that its sooo bad that some can't wait to rip it off their computers....
duh.........

Read the Headline:
"OS X, begone; the long and short of file names; and controlling the control strip"
This implies that somebody wants to get rid of OS X, in the actual article it's refering to the PB. It's misleading and puts X in a bad light.

even worse!!! The article is refered from this page (notice the headline!)
http://computers.cnet.com/hardware/0-1016.html?tag=dir
"The thrill is gone: Uninstalling the OSX Beta"
Now, to be fair, they do say BETA, but given the timing of the article people will think:
1. that OSX is in BETA form
2. that it is bad enough to warrant CNET to publish how to get rid of it.
For a good piece of computer journalism, visit www.redherring.com
They actually did a fair and complete report!!

Yes, let's demand that the press only print good things about Apple. Apple can do no wrong and anyone who says otherwise should be shot.

Well Milio, that's why I provided the link to RedHerrings article. It's a FAIR report that talks about OSX on its merits. The Cnet article is timed to confused and the title was written to jump on the bandwagon and confuse.
I have not, and will never complain of a publication that says bad things if they are justified. And I have not complained of criticisms of OSX. However, the Cnet article is confusing people by mixing the PB with the retail. That is either irresponsible or plain stupid.

I agree that cnet is somewhat negative in their reporting. However, they don't always direct it at Apple. Just yesterday they ran an article that read something like: "With Microsoft .NET, think fee, not free" ... hehe, I got a good chuckle out of that.

This afternoon yet ANOTHER negative article from CNET. This one's general tone was "there are no apps, and they are slow coming". Anticpated time frames are amended to that time frame "at the earliest", etc.
What is that, *five* distinct negative articles? Come on, now!
I'm on OS X retail right now and it's the best OS I've ever used. Hands down. As is. My IT guy played with it on my machine for about 3 hours today and now he's getting it as well, and another IT guy committed to a TiBook in order to run X.
Just give it a try for a day or two! You won't want to go back. You might HAVE to every now and then to burn a CD , but you won't want to.

For CNET and most news organizations... bad news is good news. They know that doom-and-gloom sells more page hits than a positive article. Just look at their current headline list. It reads like the downfall of technology as we know it.

Red Herring seems to have a good take on things.
Mac OS X Looks Like a Champ
No one was expecting everything this spring. Except for Cnet.
