Ok I am really pissed right now... got a big exam coming up on monday so I've been studying all day long and went to a hip hop club with some friends tonight to blow off some stream and have a beer or two.
So anyhow, this friggin bouncer was like "nah man, we don't want people like you here" and refused to let me in. I was wearing black baggy pants, blue Pistons shirt and black NY92 jacket with yellow sleeves (kinda like the sports jackets colleges tend to sell to their students). So I was pretty much dressed like you'd expect people to be dressed in hip hop clubs. But this frigging mofo refused to let me in. You should've seen this, this dude was like 5'5" and I'm like 6'4"... I could've kicked his a$$ back to wherever he came from man... I probably should've
So, in order to get in, I had to borrow a butt-fugly polo shirt from a friend of mine and hide the jacket in my backpack.

Once inside I had to realized that music was pretty sh**ty, that wasn't no hip hop at all, really sad. Was some kind of anniversary in that club (5 years I think) too... anyhow, music wasn't good at all plus the gogo-girls they had, some of'em should've better kept their clothes on... So 'bout two hours later, I left and went home. It's like less than two miles from that club to my place so I decided to not take a cab, save the money and walk.
During these 30 minutes, I got stopped by the police twice... that's right, TWICE! I have never ever been stopped by the police before (when walking) and tonight, twice. So instead of 30 minutes, it took me almost 50 minutes to get home.

I am so friggin pissed right now that I feel like smashing something into tiny little pieces and shoving piece by piece up that bouncer's butt right now... I wasn't dressed like some ghetto gangster at all but also not like Germans usually dress (between you and me, some 20-year olds dress like 80-year olds heading for the graveyard and some know only one theme: DARK AND DARKER!!!!!!!) and apparantly, that made me suspicious since both police officers did a full body search for drugs and all I had was my cigarettes.

That is pretty rude. Was it racial profiling or was it all your clothing choice? And apparently you are in Germany?

I'm guessing it was my clothes but I can't really tell... the bouncer was definitely judging me by my clothes, the cops - no idea. Definitely not racial profiling though. And yeah, I'm in Germany, and I go to college here (but I ain't German as you might've already guessed or might already know or not... whatever)

Clearly, it was the Pistons shirt. Guilt by association strikes again.

(You know, not to make light of a bad situation...)

Clearly not Artest... he looked at my shirt and said no, I was like "dude why not? it's just a pistons shirt, do you even know who the Pistons are?" and he said "no, don't know and don't care now piss off"

Considering the average IQ of (a relatively large number of) German bouncers, I'd like to suggest that the following associative thought process (if you can call it that) took place inside the dude's head: "pistons" > "pistols" > "knarre" > "whoever wears it is a thug". I've met quite a few who didn't read so well ...

Well it's obvious now: Your jacket and the Pistons shirt like they are combine to spell "Newtoyork", which everyone knows is slang for "gangster".

Yeah, I know that... but I really don't like the way Germans dress. Not all of'em, but like I said, a lot of'em tend to dress like crap

Yep, the average German tends to dress like crap. They also buy the least clothes in Europe (Italy the most ). I really love it how you can just look at someone and say oh, he/she is dutch or german or italian etc. (not necesseraly basing your judgement on clothing).

if you go out to places people usually dress pretty much the same. there is no way you could tell if someone is german, english, spanish or croatian by looking at what they wear (this , by now, goes for most americans and canadians as well).

it all depends on the milieu of course...

to the thread author: the next time you go out in frankfurt, you might as well try this place .

be sure to wear something different than what you've got on in that pic...

Yeah well I just said what some kind of study said some time ago (don't have a link to it, I read it somewhere on paper).

I never really said you could tell from where someone is just looking at their clothings, but you can when looking at how they act and how they look like.

Please, don't think that I'm dissing the Germans. I'm not .

That said: I agree that a lot of Belgians do have a fashion problem

You guysh share a border with the Dutch, so you should know the differensh

Except for Italians and French (girls) maybe, I think most countries I have been to have a dressing disability. Personally, I think British girls are the worst, but that's just me. But I also think you are right about the Germans.

But ok, maybe you should put everything into perspective: until recently, D'Espice was in the building during the day I'm in right now which is full of nerds (some even call it a freak show)

And you are definitely not entitled to judge other peoples taste in clothing!

In a Hip Hop club? When have you been to Germany the last time? I think your view of Germany is a bit skewed. Maybe many Germans don't like the American government right now, but that doesn't mean we don't like the American people!

It was just a bouncer who thought this guy doesn't fit in here, not some `authority'. Relax, it's an open-minded country.

Uhm, who are you comparing these Germans with ?

IMHO, Americans tend to dress far worse.
These typical white snearkers, boring khakis, weird-colored polo shirts. Uahgh..... *insert_throw_up_smiley*

Just look at all the Old Navy, Eddie Bauer and GAP crap! What's so fasionable about that ?

Just to clarify, I'm not talking about everyday situations. When I say "Germans tend to dress horribly" then I mean like when going out, clubbing or in bars. The one thing you will see far too often in every German disco/club is a guy with boring blue jeans and a white shirt. Or some freaky give-away shirt like with some company logo on the front or back. Or fugly stripes matched with fugly, boring, "0815" jeans.... that's what I'm talking about. Cloths that may seem fine at work or at home but that see to scream ARGH! Of course some also dress very well but unfortunately, at least in Munich, you see too many freaks.

PS: I seem to have pissed off a lot of Germans here... so chill dudes, no offense!
