Just wanted to start a thread for anyone else who also really likes the products from Macally. http://www.macally.com/ They've been making stuff for the Mac for a really long time, and have always been (in my opinion) a notch above everyone else.

They're also one of the few companies that know what "cool" is. I love their products. And like Apple, I love their packaging. Kinda funny. They have the coolest packages. Like their little iMouse or whatever, it comes with 5 color attachments in a vertical, clear plastic tube. I'm sure the retailers hate it, but it's one of the slickest packages I've seen.

They also use funky colored circuit boards for their FireWire and USB cards which makes 'em fun, even if you dont see them.

It's been a while since I've bought one of their products. The last product I bought was the iMedia Keyboard for $20 (mismarked at Fry's. ) I still use it and it's one solid keyboard. Quite, but "bouncy" keys.

Last year I saw their iceKey keyboard at Macworld and was drooling over it. One of the coolest keyboards (anyone here have one? Is it durable?)

Anyway, thought I'd share some thoughts on this company.

Edit: Found a pic of their iceKey:

I've had an iceKey for months. I absolutely love it. It's the very best keyboard I've ever used.

I originally got some cheap generic brand USB2.0 enclosure, and it had problems with OS X. So I returned it and got a Macally Firewire/USB2.0 enclosure. Absolutely no problems with OS X/Windows/Linux. Also, the hard disk stays pretty cool.

They occasionally have driver problems, though, and are usually slow to fix them (wasn't there a problem with their iShock that filled people's hard drives with error log information after some OS update not too long ago?).

The Icekey looks like a nice keyboard. I still prefer Logitech for mice (MX 500).
Genius. You know who.

I have an iceKey and a Logitech MX 518. They make a great combination.

RF Mouse here.

Really love the shape of it; I have quite wide hands(!) and this is the only mouse I've found to be really comfortable. I know the optical resolution isn't as good as the M$ or Logitech options, but comfort comes first.

Have been considering an IceKey for sometime, but I do quite like the Apple one I got with my G5. Or at least, it's heaven coming back to it after using the Compaq POS I have at work all day.

Best keyboard EVAR. I'm typing on one now. Feels like an old school, quality keyboard.

No thanks. I much prefer the low-profile keys of the iceKey. It feels like typing on my PowerBook with the added bonus of more space.

I have one of their older USB keyboards on an old box and just get annoyed about using it... but their hw is nice overall.

You're right about the Tactile Pro, but frankly that thing is in a class all its own, it's so far above the others. Macally has long made extremely good hardware other than this. Macally, the "Mac Ally". Coincidence?

The Tactile Pro looks nice; I wish they made an ergonomic version (like the Adesso Tru-Form). I love my Tru-Form, but would love it more if the keys felt more like the ADB keyboards Apple shipped with the Power Mac G3s. I don't know what Apple did to the tactile response on the G3 keyboards, but they were the best-feeling keyboards ever, IMO.

Have an iKey, and I'd like to pound the living crap out of the idiots who design keyboards with round spacebars, it makes it impossible to put any sort of wrist rest up against them. I figured that crap had gone out with the Power Computing clone keyboards, but this stupid one has it too.

Eh, it's still easier to type on than Apple's craptastic keyboards.

iShock II is also great.

I'm not aware of any stores that have the iceKey. You'll have to buy it online.

I have one at work.

But I still think I like the Pro Keyboards when they had black keys.

I have one at home I still use.

Love it.

My Apple keyboard feels awesome, coming from a PC keyboard. Going back to my sister's eMachines keyboard or even my cheap Logitech USB keyboard is like going from Charmin Ultra to Kroger brand toilet paper. It just doesn't do the job as well.

I've even had other PC users immediately comment on the fanciness of the Apple keyboard right when they sat down at my PowerMac.
