With an email, you want to know folder it's in. Mail list it in upper right , but it cuts off the name, and you can't know the folder path or where inner, sub folder is. I knew the solution. Can't remember it. How see path?

I think we need a screenshot. Do you want to find the email in the finder, or are you looking at the folders within mail?

A thanks,Not going to finder. All within Mail
Lets say you make folder in mail, and then subfolder.
You search on email that resides in that subfolder a year later.
How see path?

Ok, for me, emails in this PETS folder, if I do a search for the sender, in the list of results, and I click on the email, in the right of the email next to the date there is a PETS tag which to me looks like what folder it's in.
I don't really nest folders too much for email though.

how much nesting are you doing?!?!
I will do another test tonight, but suspect mail doesn't do such deep level breadcrumbs.

click on an email in your search result. Look on the right side of the email next to the date. It doesn't look like a breadcrumb but a light button.

Here. I made a nested folder and found the item in it. It does not show full breadcrumbs but you can see the email is in the folder Cats.

Andi, I already knew that before posting. I see upper right and also in window pane the folder the searched email is in.
But sometimes, I can't remember where the heck that folder is! Where did I nest that sub- folder three years ago when I made it?
Very frustrating. Not your fault of course, guess hopeless.
