No, it is AGP 8x, the G4 400 is either AGP 2x (Sawtooth codename) or PCI (Yikes codename). In order to get a PC graphics card working with a Mac people use to flash them, but I am not into it, so I can not give you any advice about flashing cards. I would preffer to look for a Mac edition card here at the Marketplace forum or eBay…

Being a Sawtooth G4 AGP 2x computer, a good option is look for an ATI Radeon 7500 or 8500 Mac Edition.

Bieng a PCI G4 Yikes, a ATI Radeon 7000 or 9200 is a good option.

Hope this helps.

I have found several options at eBay, firstly you must check if your G4 is AGP or PCI.

AT Radeon 8500 AGP Mac Edition

ATI Radeon 7000 PCI Mac Edition

ATI Radeon 7500 AGP Mac Edition

ATI Radeon 9200 PCI Mac Edition

Another option could be the original ATI Radeon Mac Edition, no numbers there in the name, just ATI Radeon Mac Edition, it performs better than the Radeon PCI 7000 and there are configurations for either AGP 2X Mac systems or PCI Mac systems.

I did a search and found lots of topics about flashing graphics cards.

By not to mention the huge amount of links one can find with google, for example this one.

The best would be if an user with the same Sawtooth have done that and can give you valid advice.

i've flashed a PC Radeon 8500 to use on my sawtooth. this was big, back in the day. you need to check out this super long thread, i'm sure it will give you all the information your need, although it may take you a while to go through it all

http://forums.macnn.com/showthread.php?t=52779

a warning: i think you will have to boot into OS 9 to flash, if i remember correctly.

If you don't need anything fancy you may want to get the radeon 7000 from someone in the marketplace forum. I have one and it works well.

Also tell your parents that paying for stuff online via credit card is often much safer than buying something in a store with a credit card. You generally aren't responsible either way, but I have heard of many cases of store clerks copying credit card numbers, but I don't think I know of any cases where a CC# was intercepted online and then used.

First of all, what are you wanting this upgrade for? Better gaming, Quartz Extreme, just for the heck of it?

Agreed. I just read the latest cardholder agreement from Mastercard (Canada if that matters), and as long as your account is in good standing you're not liable for theft/fraud from your card. If the OP's parents would quickly skim their cardholder agreement I think they'd feel better about using it online.
