Hey
Just got a new iMac for Christmas for the kids, and have multiple games that are "Macintosh" compatible, however NONE of them will install.
They all seem to have the "Stop" (circle with the line through it) on the install executable files.
Is it something I am doing wrong, is there a way to get these to work?
they have to be able to work, I have tried about 6 different games and same issue with all of them.
Thanks a lot

Will the game titles help?
They are literally "Kids" games, like Jumpstart Grade 1, Dr. Seuss Reading Games, Reader Rabbit etc..
Thanks and would appreciate any help possible.

They're probably not intel compatible. You purchased a new iMac with an intel processor.

well, from looking at system requirements for Jumpstart Grade 1:
Macintosh:
68040/40 MHz or PowerPC
System 7.1
8 MB RAM
1 MB hard disk space
2x CD-ROM drive
256-color monitor
13-inch or larger monitor
it looks like this probably runs in OS 9, and was never ported to OS X. so, i'm sure it would run in "Classic" mode on a PowerPC mac. but seeing as how you have a new iMac (Intel), you can't technically run OS 9. although, there may be a work around. check out this page:
UNEASYsilence Run MacOS 9 on an Intel Mac
it will take a bit of installing, but it should work.

Would probably be easier to just pick up an old iMac G3 for your kids.

don't overlook this suggestion. these things can be had for under a hundred dollars, run os9 well and are rugged as hell.

you could still try my link:
UNEASYsilence Run MacOS 9 on an Intel Mac
but yeah, if you could find an old G3 iMac, that's a perfect kids computer.

I second the old bondi or colored G3 iMac. On craigslist you can scoop them up for under $50.

Plenty, but not very many kids games. Cross posting is so cute.
