Hi All,
I have an iBook 500mhz with a faulty dc inboard. It's faulty to the point that you need to have the plug positioned in a specific way for the battery to charge. Anyway, I was wondering if a faulty dc inboard could possibly cause the battery to deteriorate prematurely? I have bought two replacement batteries from ebay and got about 12 months out of each. Is the dc inboard causing the battery to have a short life span? Are there any other causes such as power anagement units probs etc.
Any advice would be appreciated.

hmm..it probably could be related. have you thought about replacing the dc-in board? i had that problem (sister tripped on the cord while plugged in). at first, it would still charge. but then i had to have it plugged in a certain way. and then it wouldn't charge at all, and i couldn't use it. i bought a dc-in board on ebay cheap, and looked up some directions to replace it on ifixit.com, it actually wasn't as hard as i thought it would be.

Thanks Tr,
I've a used dc inboard ready to be put in and I'll use ifixit as a guide...great site. I suppose it will be a case of trial and error in regards to working out the actual problem.
