is the cd opening in "quicktime"?
open quicktime player, go to preferences (in edit menu).
scroll down to "quicktime preferences"
the bar across the top of this window has several choices...
choose "autoplay" & uncheck "enable cd autoplay"
good luck!

There's also a little app called AppleCD Audio Player which is usually under the Apple menu by default, and if you're using the control strip, there should be a module for it there, as well. It has a basic interface made to replicate a home CD player, with stop, pause, FF etc. on it.

Control Panels, QuickTime, Autoplay. There's an option for Data and Audio. Turn them both off. (Data autoplay can spread viruses if it's on)

there are also controls in the "control strip." if this is turned on (you can turn it on/off in the "control strip" control panel), there will be a little silver metallic-looking tab sticking out of the very left side of the screen somewhere near the bottom. clicking this "tab" expands it to reveal its contents. the cd controls are in a button there that looks like a cd. you might have to scroll through the control strip to find it - if you need to scroll, there will be arrows at the ends to allow this.
