So, I was doing some browsing on Google Earth, checking out the Coronado Naval Air Station, among other places, and I came across this view:

Yes, I know, it's a bunch of disassembled Tomcats, mixed in with what looks like a few old trainers and a couple of Seahawks. But what in the name of all that is holy is this?

I apologize if this is obvious and I'm just not looking correctly...but that aircraft looks reeeeeally weird...

Coordinates, for checking it out yourselves, are 32° 42'28.35"N 117° 13'00.28"W

In airforce terminology there is a base in NV called neverneverland, where area 51 is rumored is no more than a military test ground for new technologies and planes you won't see ever or for 20 years. But I have no idea what plane that is it might be just and old fighter or an old test plane.

edit: actually looks like part ofd the wings were disassembled

Looks like one of the carrier birds with the wingtips folded up (casting a shadow on the fuselage).

Looking at it after rotating 180 degrees, it looks like hickey and mduell are probably right - the wings are folded...

If you look at it from that way, it just looks like an old (E)A-6...damn.

EDIT: Look what they did to that Tomcat down and to the right of the ex-"mystery plane"...*whimpers*

Oh well, there's always Fat Albert to gaze upon

You can certainly bet on Google blurring images if they are some top-secret military site....you won't find any secrets on Google Earth..

Very, very interesting...amazing, how did I miss that?!

Don't be so sure, Josh...Area 51 has some pretty damn clear imagery.
The only thing I did notice was that they eliminated the hull numbers from the aircraft carriers docked in Norfolk...but those could just be decommissioned carriers.
