I want to start an architectural image/info database. Need suggestions.

I want to maintain a database of projects I see, so I can have a searchable database that will pull up images and notes based on keyword searches.
-I would like this to be able to last throughout the years, so I'm partial to the file tagging idea. I've found tag clouds to be pretty useful.
-I would prefer it to be searchable from windows and mac, because most arch software runs on windows.
**I have seen Evernote and tagging programs like punakea and tagbot, but I'm wondering of there's a better solution out there.

I suppose you want it to be private? Otherwise, really, blogging it and using Teh Goog often works depressingly better than any local solution.

I'd be interested in this too -- a visual database. Like Aperture but with more annotations.

True, blogging could be private if I take some precautions. I'd just rather not have to rely on uploading images and maintaining a blog. Ideal workflow would be to grab a couple images and do a quick tag of location, designer and then some general tags on materials/design aspects.
From my understanding there have been issues with Spotlight comments not transferring through some file transfers, and I'm not positive if they're supported on windows.
