PAL support for output is coming in version 1.5. You can already input PAL DVDs into Forty-Two, but the output will be NTSC. In 1.5, you can choose the output as PAL or not on any DVD. Check out the progress on 1.5 here: http://homepage.mac.com/kaicherry/progress.html.

Not sure I understand. I'm very new to all of this myself. I had many in the forum teach me about this. If you don't have the latest release, in the first version there was a mistake in that "DivX Near DVD" and "DivX 1 CD" got reversed. So if you didn't get the latest version 1.0.2 or the updater to the previous ones this might explain why you ended up with a larger file than you had expected. Also, I'm not sure if the files could be reduce. From my limited understanding, many of these files end up around 1 GB. Perhaps some of the more experienced users can chime in to help.

before installing a new version, what are the elements that need to be uninstalled (I read here and there that we should delete everything before installing any update) ?
and most important where are they (I can see the main application, but where are the ressources ?)

thanks !

Updaters are patches to the current installations. Do not delete anything before installing an update. Only for full releases do you have to delete the old install.

I was able to rip the DVD video in DVD format (I'm assuming this is just an mpeg-2 file) using forty=two; however, the audio wasn't extracted from the DVD. I know that sometimes forty-two will extract the audio portion on the DVD, but for those instances in which it doesn't what next steps should I take to extract the audio, and then burn both audio and video to a DVD?

Thanks,
