Oh, I assumed you watched the video at the first link that you posted. It's the last line of the first Portal 2 video.

I watched both videos. I guess I didn't notice the dialogue so much as the gameplay.

They are doing a bundle, but I disagree that it'd work. Only if they eliminated a standalone 360 could they get to 20%.

I really hope they up the difficulty without making 'death hazards' more frequent.
Like in a sweet total conversion for Portal, called Portal: Prelude, they like to make use of a lot of turrets in order to make levels difficult. While still very challenging, the allure of Portal for me is the ability to get stumped by a puzzle, not get stumped by enemies shooting you.

Why is "only 2" such a big deal? You often have 4 friends over all wanting to flail their limbs around at the same time in a limited space?
Who here seriously sees these types of games needing 3+ players at the same time?

There are only two instances I can think of with 4 players at the same time.
Rock Band, and 007 on N64.
That's about it. If you are trying to play the Wii with 4 people in a living room, a lamp or something is getting knocked over.

$300?
2 Person Setup (You only need one camera so you don't need two bundles)
$99 (Move Bundle) [ PS Eye / Move Controller / Nav Controller / Sport Champions Game ]
$49 (Move Controller)
$29 (Nav Controller)
-----
$177

One of the original Kinect videos showed a family playing a trivia game, using their hands as buzzers. I could definitely see my friends wanting to play something like that (we like Scene It well enough).

All Kinect has is a dancing game. I don't think the controller-less gameplay is more appealing, either. At least Sony is the WiiHD with better accuracy.

Yeah, like what good games have been released already this year?
I'm still playing last years games - MW2, Bioshock 2 , and soon ME2. I guess there is Red Dead Redemption. I'm looking forward to: Crackdown 2 (maybe?), Halo Reach, Fable 3 which haven't been released. Oh wait Bioshock 2 was released this year, wasn't it?
One other thing, they came out with a new Xbox 360, but it has no Blu-Ray player? What's with that? Man I was looking at Walmart the other day and they had a DVD set of the 3 Underworld movies for 13.99. I was tempted, but then I realized they're probably on blu-ray too. Sure enough I found them on Blu-ray for twice the price. Didn't buy them since I don't have a BR player. I'll have to get one, one of these days.

Could it be becaaaaaaaause...Sony owns Blu-ray? Either Microsoft doesn't want it in their console (driving up hardware costs), or Sony doesn't want it in the 360 (seems like rejecting boatloads of cash).
One of the best uses for Blu-ray on a huge HDTV is the Planet Earth collection. Breathtaking stuff.
Also, here's a link to a great Blu-ray player: Fantastic Deal

Sony doesn't own Blu-ray, and nothing is stopping Microsoft from putting it whatever they want.

Sorry. Not "owned" by Sony, but they are one in a group of Blu-ray patent holders.

They have patents, yes. But the Blu-ray Disc Association is the one who hands out licenses, and they have 20 different companies on their board. Sony couldn't do a single thing to keep Microsoft from including Blu-ray on any device they wanted to.

Really all it does is point out that the real difference in quality between the consoles is marginal at best. I am surprised that the Wii isn't below the 360 on the list though, considering the crap that third-party publishers put out for it.

That, too, is marginal at best. What is surprising is the 360 had twice as many games come out this year. Wut?

This year's been a pretty good year for gaming in general. A lot of landmark titles, or at least well-made titles, have/are coming out.

In retrospect, I don't wonder if that's because developers have cooled on the profit potential of the platform.

So the Xbox goes to glossy black, and the PS3 goes matte white. Oh the irony.
Also, saw the new Xbox controllers in the store today. All black, even the buttons (which were dark grey before) and the strip on the bottom is now glossy black. Looks like they tweaked the Xbox logo on the controller too, as it's now chrome. I guess all the older colors (pink, red, white, etc.) are being discontinued. Guess black IS the new white?

Well, I was being lazy this week, but since the NPD came out I guess I'll do a round up of some of the week's stories.
June NPD: Hardware's way up, Red Dead reloads | Joystiq
DS: 511K, up 127K (+33%)
360: 453K, up 257K (+132%)
Wii: 423K, up 88K (+26%)
PS3: 305K, up 150K (+97%)
PSP: 121K, up 62K (+105%)
Red Dead Redemption – Xbox 360 – Take-Two – 582.9K
Super Mario Galaxy 2 – Wii – Nintendo – 548.4K
Red Dead Redemption – PS3 – Take-Two – 380.3K
New Super Mario Bros. Wii – Wii – Nintendo – 200.9K
Just Dance – Wii – Ubisoft – 174.8K
Wii Fit Plus w/ Balance Board – Wii – Nintendo
Toy Story 3 – DS – Disney
UFC 2010: Undisputed – Xbox 360 – THQ
LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 – Wii – WBIE
UFC 2010: Undisputed – PS3 – THQ
Pretty much as expected.
Gamasutra - News - Exclusive: Wii Software Growth Peaking, Falling Behind PS2
However, it then appears to have hit a plateau in 2009 with sales inching up only marginally, and falling behind the estimated trajectory of PlayStation 2 software sales.
By the end of its third calendar year on the market, the Wii had sold just slightly more software than the PlayStation 2 had done by the end of its third calendar year.
However, the Wii moved that much software on an installed base 5 million systems larger than what the PlayStation 2 had. (For those familiar with the term as used by the NPD Group, this means the PlayStation 2 had a higher tie ratio, more units of software per system.)
I have to wonder if the economy has anything to do with this.

Tim Schafer Calls Activision Boss "A Total Prick"
"His obligation is to his shareholders," Schafer tells Eurogamer. "Well, he doesn't have to be as much of a dick about it, does he? I think there is a way he can do it without being a total prick. It seems like it would be possible. It's not something he's interested in."
Dashboard Redesign Coming in November? [Update]
"Yes, the next Xbox LIVE update will include Family Center," a Microsoft spokesperson told Kotaku. "As we discussed at E3 it will also include a refreshed Xbox LIVE dashboard, the new Kinect Hub and ESPN. This update will be available over LIVE just prior to Kinect for Xbox 360 being available in store in November. We have no additional details to share at this time."

Microsoft Cans 1 Vs. 100 for Xbox 360 [Updated]
Resisting the urge to say "You are the weakest link..."
Did You Think Fable II Had A Bunch Of Bugs?
"At one point we had 67,000 bugs," he said, "and when the Xbox test team tested the game they rated us super-black. That never had happened to a game before, Microsoft had in the past rated some games as 'Red', but never 'Black'."
According to Molyneux, "It was thought that coming back from black was impossible." But Fable II did just that.
Something to be both ashamed and proud of. Also explains the terrible co-op.

Well, the new dashboard looks like it borrows heavily from the Zune and Windows Phone 7. Still, nice to see some commonality among MS products for once.
