I recently bought a iBook and want to have wireless in my place.

I have a cable modem and my current setup is something like this.

Cable Modem --> netgear router 4 port --> 3 computers (wired) all PC

After my netgear router, I would like to add this: Dlink wireless 802.11b

Have my home network look like this

cable modem --> netgear 4 port router --> two computers & D link wireless which would go to my PC Desktop and my wireless iBook.

I am pretty networking-challenged, so any help would be appreciated. I am going almost completely for cost.

You've got the right idea. That's similar to the setup I'd reckon many of us MacNNers have.

If you don't already have one (of course!), you'll also need a regular Airport Card (not Extreme) for your iBook so it can connect to the D-Link access point. Installing one in an iBook takes about five minutes and doesn't require any tools.

Good luck.
