Australian customers are among the first in the world to get their hands on the new
iPhone 6s and 6s Plus.
MacNN was on hand at the Apple Store Broadway, Sydney Australia when the hotly anticipated new iPhone went on sale this 8am this morning, local time. Thanks to the quirks of international time zones, Australian and New Zealand customers have always enjoyed the opportunity to get their hands on Apple's latest products first. Around 200-300 customers were on hand for the launch, with Apple appearing to have solid stock numbers on hand to keep customers happy.
The iPhone 6s and 6s Plus are the first iPhones to feature 3D Touch, an iteration of the Force Touch tech first seen on the Apple Watch launched earlier this year. 3D Touch adds an additional dimension of control to Apple's breakthrough multitouch experience. With 3D Touch, users can access short cuts and functions from apps directly from the home screen, while also accessing other capabilities from within apps, all of which are designed to make the iPhone 6s models faster and easier to use.
The iPhone 6s models also feature Apple's third-generation A9 SoC, which is
as powerful as the Intel Core M chip in the new 12-inch Retina MacBook. Early reviews have highlighted the speed of the new iPhones as a real highlight, while also praising the implementation of 3D Touch. The iPhone 6s models continue their global rollout with customers in addition to Australia include Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Singapore, the UK, and, of course, the United States.
