You find something that isn't yours, you turn it in. Everything else is theft, pure and simple. You can't make your morals dependent on whether you like people or not.

See, that's where you assume that the person who found it stole it. Perhaps he appreciated the value of it enough to turn it into the "lost and found" at the establishment and then someone in the bar pocketed it.

But we are arguing semantics and around and about the real point here aren't we? Either way, ambush didn't care enough about it's value to truly verify he had possession of it and lost it.

Now insulting me on an internet forum is making him feel better. I am glad to be of assistance.

No I didn't. You're projecting here. I addressed his post. He is the derailer.

Back in 2002, I lost my cell phone in Vons, I returned 15 minutes later and I couldn't find it anywhere.

I immeadiatly tried to call it and then I contacted my cell phone company and cancelled my lost phone.

I had to get a new phone quick since I was expecting a call for an interview the next day.

a) what sort of weird construct is that? Fact is, if the phone doesn't turn up, someone down the line is a criminal. Regardless of whether you personally are moral fool enough to claim that whoever it was deserves to keep it because he's going to appreciate it more than ambush.

b) Ambush may be a stupid kid and an asshole in your opinion (he's certainly been a desperate jerk in this thread), but gloating over his loss the way you did in your VERY FIRST POST in this thread doesn't make you any less, IMO.

In the context, it's rather amusing to see you act all defensive and innocent.
"Mote in thy brother's eye", and all that.

I have found a few phones because I spend a lot of time hanging out at this 24-hour restaraunt that drunks go to after hours. I usually call people on their contact list until someone picks up. If I get a voicemail, I leave one for them. I could have had a SLVR for free if I had wanted one badly. I still want one. I am stuck with a Nokia 6010 with a busted screen and 36-hour battery life because I dropped it. It was T-Mobile and everything, the SLVR. Maybe someone is calling people you know on your phone and it is just a matter of time until you get it back. Maybe you're screwed. Best of luck.

I am not being defensive. I am expounding upon my first post.

And I was gloating over his loss? Gloating would have been: "HA HA". I simply noted that he didn't appreciate it enough and hopefully learned from the situation. I am sorry I wasn't clear enough.

That's why I simply said "Good night". He won't learn no matter what point I take. He'll insult me and call me names no matter what I do. I am persistent, I'll admit that. Perhaps I should cut my losses.

His velvet underground thread's not too bad. A bit presumptuous, but I appreciate his opinion there even if I completely disagree with it.

OK so listen to this.

I lost my (new) phone 3 days ago... turns out it dropped from my pocket as I was walking home (I'm such a lucky man!) (it dropped on my lawn, which is frozen because it's -10C outside)... and now my mom finds it and its LCD is cracked and it's generally ****ed.

Great, so I just lost 300$ again

Life sucks so badly for me these ****ing days.

edit... oh wow..railroader is banned. I suddenly feel happier.

Gotcha. So that was part of the big fuss in the feedback forum...

Anyways, on topic...

Once I lost my cell phone in the deep rough (dandelions and clover) of a very public golf course. I lost it on the 10th hole and didn't realize my mistake until the 17th. I actually accidentally kicked the phone (an Ericcson) while I was walking around the place that I thought I had hit a ball from. There was no I way I could've ever seen the thing. An insanely lucky break.

Sorry about the ruined phone, ambush....and the old lost one.

Rob WAS banned over such a thing, and railroader was being a complete asshole - both in that thread and in this one.

I have been banninated for baiting Rob in Jan. AFAIK, railroader knew about it.
Railroader has been banninated for this very same reason TWICE already. Can't tell me he didn't know what he was doing.

Personally, that is my opinion, too.

But RR can not claim he didn't know, at least NOT after the second incident.
If you get banninated for the SAME thing again, you have either a short attention span, or done it on purpose.
