LG has
launched an Android smartphone in South Korea, taking the unusual form of a
clamshell mobile device. The LG Wine Smart has a 3.5-inch 320x480 display which flips up in the top half of the phone, while the lower section below the hinge displays a number pad and function keys familiar to users of the older-style mobile phones.
Behind the Wine Smart is a 1.2GHz quad-core processor with 1GB of RAM and 4GB of storage, expandable by microSD. Running on Android KitKat, the device includes a rear 8-megapixel camera in the lower portion, a VGA-resolution front camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, LTE connectivity, and a 1,700mAh removable battery.
Pricing and availability for the LG Wine Smart has yet to be revealed, though it is unlikely to go on sale far from South Korea itself.
