Editor's Note: As we wind down operations, the staff of MacNN is running some of their personal favorite stories, either moments we were especially proud of or -- as with this one -- stories that really stuck out in our minds. Without question, this was one of them. Originally written in 2013, we have laughed about this one many times (only because we can't afford it), but fret not -- some more "night shift what th--?" type stories are yet to come. In the meantime, we give you one of the stories we're glad we didn't flush the press release on -- the Bluetooth Toilet. And yes -- it is still available.

Plumbing equipment manufacturer Kohler has announced an upgrade to the Numi Comfort Height toilet. Added to the receptacle are a Bluetooth 4.0 receiver, a SD card slot, and ambient light customization. Kohler's most advanced toilet now includes an interactive LCD touch-screen interface, built-in personalized bidet functionality and deodorizer, dual-flush technology with 0.6 or 1.28 gallons per flush, a proximity-based auto-open and -close lid, a heated seat, and a foot warmer.

The new additions to the device include the Bluetooth receiver for users to stream audio directly from mobile device, added ambient lighting options allowing users to choose to cycle through all seven colors, or pick a color specific to each day of the week, use of the SD card slot for selection of a custom playlist or personalized welcome greeting, and the addition of a USB port for easy installation of software patches. A user-accessible battery pack allows the toilet to flush normally up to 100 times in the event of a power outage.

The toilet retails for $6,000 (Update: now selling for around $4,000) in premium Kohler showrooms. Installation and delivery are not included in the price.
