I love my live wallpaper but does it really affect the efficiency of my battery?

Most houses come with still wallpaper. In fact, I don't think I've ever seen a house with live wallpaper outside an SF movie. Perhaps you mean desktop picture / desktop background video / using screen saver as desktop background?
did the iProducts sell out and start calling it wallpaper?

Why are you asking this in this forum?
None of the iOS devices have this functionality.
Or have you jail broken?

To answer the question...of course it affects battery life, because the processor and graphics chip have to keep moving data all of the time.

Massive battery drain for very little in return. When I'm looking at my phone, it's to do stuff, not to watch a screen saver in the background.

Yep, mine is JBd a couple of months ago. I got the animated wallpaper at iTunes. I think you could get the wallpaper even if your device isn’t jailbroken.
Yes, it indeed drains my battery life! Eyecandy but shortens my batt ammo, haha!
