Funny you should say that….

Wildlife seems to be where I get most my hits. This one has been getting a bit of attention lately:

Now that is a gorgeous shot. The koala shots didn’t really do much for me (cute and all, but the colours are too bland to get my eyes salivating), but the owl here is absolutely astounding. Those brown and gold colours of the feathers and eyes contrasted with the intense green and blue in the background just jump off the page/screen and scream at me (in the good way).

@erik
Wow, did that shot come out of the camera like that? Or have you tweaked the saturation or so? In any case, great shot!

BTW, I had a feeling you were the one supplying koala photos for wikipedia. You could tell from the style!
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

This was about a week ago when my area got to 35°F. Sure, it probably looks warm.

I love this shot. Can't think of any improvements. This shot should be sellable somewhere.

Here's a panoramic shot I sold of Lucas Oil Stadium In Indianapolis.

Don't get too ahead of yourself.

BUT there have been some things in my life that have changed, which seem to be having a positive effect on me. At least lowering the amount of joy I get out of other people's displeasure. It is quite odd.

However, we digress.

There has been some serious tweaking done to that photo of course. As Ansel Adams famously said: "most of the photographer's work is done in the darkroom".

Oh and, Calverson growing up? Say it ain't so!

I’m probably going to cause more than a few heart attacks and/or pukefests here, but I don’t care. This HDR stuff is strangely addictive. It’s fun trying to find the point where you lose credibility, and then go just past it, but not too far past it.

(Sorry for the hugeness—has MacNN implemented a way to specify width in the img tags? I wanted it 800px wide, not 1024px.)

I agree, but not that penetrating, wet cold that comes with freezing rain and slush. It looks like a dry cold, with blustery winds; not quite too cold to go out, but you really appreciate it when you get back in. I guess that means that the picture is really evoking feelings in me. Or I need to take something and go to bed. Either way...

I put the thread in a coma. I seem to do that. I contemplated starting a thread with some images from my trip to the Rolex but put these here instead. I'll try to get some bokeh in there next time. o_o

Sorry, I've just been very busy with a recently licensed group home and haven't had time to take pictures of much more than the kids. And I don't want to critique unless I have a picture to post.

And due to confidentiality issues I can't post them here.

I quite like this shot, but I can’t decide if the composition goes against the ‘golden rules’ in an exciting and drawing-in kind of way, or if it’s just dull and uninspired. What say ye, good people of MacNN?

Ice: The motive in the first one isn’t exactly new or particularly exciting, but I really love the exaggerated, grungy colours. I like the composition in the second one (only three things annoy me: the girl on the right’s panties sticking out under her skirt; the glass of whatever-red-drink-that-is in the hand of girl-#3-from-right; and the fact that girl-on-the-left’s handbag looks like a roll of toilet paper).

So … anyone have anything at all to say about the one I posted a month and a half ago above?

Actually, your critique is quite accurate. But the thing that really annoys me is the reflections of the people in the water. And the color of the water is brown and gray. The sun was almost mid-sky which makes for horrible lighting and washed out colors. Unfortunately this is the only time I am able to make it to the zoo.

I did not plan on getting the shot, I was just shooting the lemur walking along the concrete bridge. I was trying to work the flamingo reflections and catch the tail curling just right... Then suddenly the little guy looked back and forth and bolted.

Here is the series of shots I was shooting. I reworked the colors and sharpness.

Also, here is a cute little guy I shot a few dozen pictures of:
