I have a macbook pro ,early 08.
I have installed all the software updates, including the keyboard update.
But I still have a problem with the keyboard.
Using the 'capital' key to create capitals is a guessing game.
I know you are supposed to strike the key on the left-hand edge to get the light to light, but this seems to be a fairly hit-and-miss arrangement.
Why cant you just touch the key ANYWHERE to get it to work?
Anyone have a better idea, or know how to change the behaviour of the key?
All advice appreciated.
Greg

I'm not sure that you can change the behaviour of the key - but try holding the key in for a tiny bit longer. I've developed a seemingly unbreakable habit of hitting caps lock quickly instead of shift to get a capital letter - and if you tap it quick enough then it won't recognize.

What the hell are you talking about?
There's something wrong with the key if it doesn't respond regardless of where you hit it.
I suggest blowing some compressed air under the key to dislodge any dirt - usually, this sort of thing is caused by a cookie crumb or such.

not true - the key does not Make Capitals unless you hit the key on the left hand end.

THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE KEY.
Are you telling me that's "not true"?
Then there is no help for you.

the key DOES work, but not as should be expected.
you have to hit it on the left hand edge to get it to put the capitals to work.
Apple experts tell me that that is ok (?)
I dont need a semantic expert to tell me that it does not work, it does, but not as we should expect,

If the key does not act "as should be expected," then it is BROKEN. There is a mechanism under each key that ensures ANY pressure is translated into direct vertical pressure. If ANY key requires some special direction of pressure, then that mechanism under the key is faulty.
Take the MBP to your nearest Apple Store, and demonstrate this issue. They should repair this problem for you.

My question would be: who the heck ever uses caps lock so much that this is a problem?
