so you buy de-icer and keep in your car, but if the car doors are frozen, what then? if you leave in the house then you'll be out of luck when on the road? what if you can't get the truck open?

so what about you?

I try to keep it somewhere I know it won't freeze.

Actually, deicer is supposed to be a preventive tool. You should use it before you have to use it.

Buy the "magnet keychain" version and stick it under the wheel base...

And yes, you are supposed to use beforehand; however, it can be used and be effective after the fact...

What's that supposed to mean? How do you de-ice your car before there's ice on it? Some explanation, please.

Are you talking about lock de-icer? That's what I assumed you were talking about.

Basically, you squirt it into your locks before the have a chance to freeze up with ice. It prevents the locks from icing up. Kind of like having anti-virus software on your computer. It doesn't do you any good to install virus software on your computer after a virus has erased your hard drive contents.
