I don't have a desire to pay $12 or more with additional shipping charges just to have a piece of cloth protect my MacBook screen. So I'm curious to know what some of you use.
I have some microfiber cloth at home, but I wonder if it being thicker would damage anything?

For years I have been using a sheet of plain white printer paper (cut to size if necessary) between my keyboard and screen whenever I close my laptop.
This will keep any grime from your keyboard from transferring to the screen.
Low-tech, but effective.

There's a sheet of foamy material that comes in between the screen and keyboard when you first open up the MB. Just cut it to size, or leave it at the full size (fits the entire keyboard plane) and use it. I did that with my old iBook and it works just as well with my MB.

At first glance, I thoguht you were talking about a clear screen protector, like you would find on a PDA screen. THAT would be a good thing to have.

My wife uses the foam sheet that came with her iBook, and I use the foam sheet that came with my MBP. Spend money when Apple has GIVEN me the perfect item? Nope!
p.s. We haven't trimmed either sheet because they fit just fine.

I use nothing. The Macbook doesn't need it. The keys don't touch the screen.
