and they are us.

whats up w/apple??

EVERYONE i know has upgraded to 10.2.8. (well, almost everyone)

now apple pulls the upgrade, and lots of us are left struggling with problems.

how is this reasonable? 2 words:
quality control (a now-ancient art)

i'm a longtime apple loyalist, but this is pretty bad. we all know that each new update brings new issues, but this seems over-the-top.

hope apple will do the right thing, address the big (& little) issues ASAP & get a fix posted.

no bragging this week to the windows world...

This will probably slow down the pending iCal and iSync upgrades as well as they probably were geared to the release changes in 10.2.8. Bummer.

Apple seeded downgrader programs to the developers so they could test the new version. I always wondered why they never made these available once the upgrade was released to the public. Us developers can downgrade 10.2.8 (probably, I haven't actually tried it since I didn't care about this release), but we can't give those programs to the masses because Apple would accuse us of violating our NDA.

The downgraders do not uninstall the update. The downgraders only remove the update's receipt and change the system version string to the previous version, so you can run the installer for a later build of the update. The note included with the downgraders explains this.

Amen. I rarely upgrade until I read what side effects it has.

Updatet as soon as I noticed it was out. I didn't think about waiting at all. I haven't experienced any of the big issues others seem to have had, but I'm a bit worried, hope they come out with a new one so I can sleep well at night...

i dunno, i love installing updates the second they hit. i like the surprises, the discoveries (the good ones, anyway)

10.2.8 is so-far-okay for me, except for the battery issue (1:04 max on my pismo..!)

updates are like gifts, love 'em or hate 'em, know what i mean??

I've been very lucky with all of the updates so far. I've always updated the day they are released, and have yet to experience any of the issues anyone's had. I guess my Mac Karma is in balance.

(must find a very large slab of wood to knock on)

Strange to relate but updating seems to have actually increased my battery life, and no problems except 1 website that ties up on first download. Don't mean there won't be more problems though. Hey, I've been on Apples since OS 7, and there's always problems with every upgrade, but you always get through it.

This is one reason I have a back up internal drive. If the update messes things up I don't get mad, I just boot off the backup and I'm up and running in no time. Apple will eventually issue a fix.

I love to update immediately unless it is from M$. :-)

So far, knock on wood, I have never had a big issue.

Plus, now I get to update again as Apple will put out 10.2.8.1 very soon.

I NEVER update immediately when my system is running fine.

It's easy to say now, right after the 10.2.8 fiasco, but I always run a backup before any system update.

This is because I installed a security update once and it KILLED all my apps that access the internet. By killed, I mean "unexpectedly quit" killed. Email, Broswers, etc. I couldn't get on the net. I trashed preferences, repaired permissions, did every trick I knew, but I couldn't fix it. I didn't have a backup and had to do a system reinstall. BARF!

NEVER again, Apple. Never again will I install without backup!
