About to install it, but can't see what it is supposed to be for...the text of the update in Software Update:

"This update is recommended for all Intel-based Macintosh computers and provides compatibility with AirPort Extreme base stations and networks."

That's it...no link to an explanation, and searching Apple's website turned up zilch.

Well, it shows up now on the Apple website, but still doesn't say much...

My airport extreme works fine, and this update doesn't look to be security-related, so... I'll pass.

^ Thanks. So it is security-related. They should include such information on the actual download page.

Yeah, also love those "This update provides bug fixes." descriptions hehe

This page is useful - it shows the most recently updated Knowledge Base docs. I've found that in the past when Apple releases new downloads they also update a few KB articles that relate to the issue.

Isn't this the now-no-charge 'n' update that people have been expecting?

offering up to five times the performance and up to twice the range of networks created with the earlier 802.11g standard
