Hello everyone, I'm new to the site, but very familiar with Macs

Im having a strange video issue i'd like to get resolved, hopefully someone can help me
I have a Late 2004 Dual 1.8 G5 with 3 gigs of ram and a Flashed Geforce 6200 Card

Since upgrading to Leopard, some strange video thing happen in certain programs.
In Final Cut Pro, when using the timeline, the cursor line sometimes stays behind as im dragging across it, but it is only a visual thing. When moving any video or audio across the timeline, sometimes the piece will stick behind even thought in reality it has moved to where i put it. This all will go away if i zoom in or out.
Here is an example: http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e9...alCutWeird.png
A similar thing happens in Word and any Adobe product.

I'm not sure if it is the video card or another issue, whatever it is, id like to get it fixed, even if that means getting a better video card (Ati X800/Nvidia 6800 DDL)

thanks to anyone who can help

- Matt

I have the same problem with my Mac Pro when i had the x1900.
Once updating to leopard the card seemed to overheat, even with a modded fan.

currently I have the 8800 and at times i still have that same problem. sometimes even with green lines across the entire screen.

I think its just a firmware issue with leopard

It looks just like my XFX nVidia GeForce 6200 (PV-T44A-WANG)

The ROM Revision it's the same, I think you already have the ROM free of temperature sensor

But wich brand and model it's your graphics card???

As I can see, you buy this card already flashed for mac use, ok, now, you can see the back of the card to find any sticker with the model on it, to get know wich brand and model of card it is, also it's important to see the speed of the core and the memory, for this you will requiere a PC with an AGP port, Windows operative system and cpu-z software. from the people i bought it from

nVidia GeForce 6200

Slot Compatibility - AGP 2x/4x/8x
ROM (Firmware) Revision - v2149 (Newest)
VRAM - 256MB 64-bit DDR2
Memory Clock - 266MHz (533MHz DDR2)
GPU Clock - 300MHz

there's no sticker on it anywhere that says any model or name of any type

would a faster card fix the issue?

OK!

It seems like your seller place a underclocked ROM for use in a Power Mac G4 Cube, so this card generate less heat than inside another kind of Power Mac, but also it is slower, the right thing to do, it's to contact your seller and ask to him that fix or replace the card, if you are unable to do this, I can help you fix it, Flashing it again to get a better clock speed, and maybe fix your video problem. Saludos!

so ur saying its due to the underclocking of the card. So if i bought a faster card, it would fix the issue. its not something to do with my system? because i don't have any way to flash a card and no real access to a Windows PC to flash it that is good enough.I bougth the card a year or two go, and if i have to update, i will, as long as it fits the problem

thanks a lot, you've been a huge help

No wellcome "BaBaBooey"

I think there is not necessary to change the graphic card, it just needs to get a faster clock speed configuration, but if you already want to change it for a powerful one, you will have to buy an apple original branded ATi Radeon X800 XT Mac Edition, or get a flashed BFG, XFX or eVGA nVidia 7800 GS card on ebay, so, those are the possible solutions to your problem. Saludos!

ok so update on this

i reinstalled Leopard due to some folder issues and it seemed to fix the problem but i was still have some small video issues due to the video card being underclocked. During this process i bought a Geforce 6800 Ultra DDL which has significantly increased my computers speed visually, and was worth the cash i spent on it. On top of that i will be adding a 2nd 20" Apple Cinema Display because the 6800 has 2 DVI ports. Thanks to MuVo for helping me with all of this and anyone who has read it.
