I'm still waiting on your source...properly cited.
If a 10 year old is able to Google "H.R.3571 - Defund ACORN Act", click on the first link in the results.

Then read the webpage, and click on the link that says "Official Bill Text" for the original bill.

I would at least hope you have the ability of a 10 year old.

The problem is that the amendment mentions Halliburton/KBR and nobody else. It's like passing a food safety bill that only mentions McDonald's in the legislation. "S. AMD 9696: It's illegal for McDonald's to sell bad food... other food places, too." Why not just leave it at "all food establishments"?

While there is a subsequent catch-all that can include other contractors, it's the specific mention of one particular company in the legislation that was lame.

U.S. Senate: Legislation & Records Home > Votes > Roll Call Vote

As for rape, yes, everyone should get their day in court. I highly doubt any of the Senators would disagree with that, no matter their affiliation or list of donors.
Excellent. spacefreak is on record that employment contracts cannot bind employees against seeking redress in a court of law, and that "mandatory arbitration" clauses are to be outlawed. Let's get this on a bill and get it signed. This crap must stop.

This thread clearly demonstrates that many Republicans have lost their humanity and will apologize for anything; it's not a party or a political philosophy to them, it's a friggin' cult. This woman was gang-raped and her employers threw away the evidence and locked her up - but some jerks wanna bring up ACORN or mention drug abuse by politicians? Jeez, we're talking about giving KBR a get-outta-jail-free card for covering up gang-rape for crying out loud. Any you wanna bicker about trivialities like naming corporations in a bill? Have you no decency?

The only thing worse than these 30 turds who voted against this bill are GOP cultists who apologize for them. Like attracts like, I guess.

This is seriously disgusting. So far the best people can come with is that Haliburton was mentioned by name in the bill, yet 1) it also says other contractors 2) No one has presented evidence that refutes that the same republicans voting against this support bills that specifically named acorn.

This is seriously a disgusting movement for republicans.
So spacefreak, do you agree with Jeff Sessions or not?

Getting a job shouldn't require giving up your legal rights.

How's this for disgusting: The Truth About the Franken Amendment The Foundry

When a disgruntled employee files a lawsuit that goes to court his employer must pay tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal fees. Even if the courts reject the allegation as frivolous employers must still pay the lawyers. That allows unscrupulous employees to use threat of going to court to win large settlements from their bosses for baseless claims. Guilty or not guilty, the employer loses money that could have been used to expand operations and hire more workers.
Boo f'n hoo.
Given that Franken chose to highlight her case, you might assume that the courts ruled in Haliburton’s favor, and that she was not able to bring her claims in court instead of to an arbitrator. But then you would be wrong. The courts ruled that Halliburton could not arbitrate her claims of assault and battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligent hiring, retention and supervision of employees involved in the assault, and false imprisonment.
Listen, you paid-for-partisan hacks: she shouldn't have had to go to court to win the right to a trial in the first place. That's what the amendment is for. Twits.
But the allegations in this case are so egregious that it makes it difficult for Members of Congress to stand up for the rights of law-abiding employers.
Apparently, 30 of them were still stupid enough to try.
