Are you a bathroom powerbook user?

A conversation with friends has inspired my curiosity and this poll. How many laptop users, namely us PowerBook users, use their computer in the bathroom? I've never seen any definitive poll, and I'd think it'd be interesting / hilarious to know. So I'll be the first to admit that although I'm not a frequent user, I have! So how about you...hmmm?

Best thread ever
I've gotta admit, I had used my old lombard on the throne a few times (but would never have admitted it if not for this thread). However, since I got BigAl, there is no way this machine is going anywhere near that room. I now use my Clie NX-70V with wireless card to surf on the pot

Thats the best perk of having a wireless laptop. Being able to take it with you any where. I proudly read MacNN while taking a dump!

It's crossed my mind more than once. I have a wireless router so I could surf the net just fine... but I wouldn't dare bring my TiBook into the bathroom. I'd be too afriad of getting something (mostly water) on it. It's a small bathroom, too...

I did it quite a bit with my airport-equipped pismo. Though now I'm using an old iBook (clam-shell era) that has battery trouble a lot, so I can't anymore. The upside is that I now read on the pot like back in the good ol' days before all this fancy-schmancy no-wire stuff occured.
Now that's a story to tell the grandkids. "When I was little, people actually READ on the toilet instead of surfing the 'net."

seriously folks.. I find little justification in bringing my 3,200 dollar gem into a place where one pinches a loaf and takes a piss.

Never mind that 2003 will be remembered as the year the iLoo came out. (Or didn't come out, ultimately.)
I think I read that somewhere, somebody actually made a pay toilet with web access.

Hmm.... why do you want to use computer when you are in the bathroom......
How much time would that cost you?? 1 hour?? 2 hours may be??
What's the point of using computer in the bathroom anyway?

Zen masters might well recommend concentrating on the task at hand (kinda like OS9): eat with mindfulness, compute with mindfulness, poop with mindfulness, and I would agree, to a point.
But they never took into account that airport reception is better in my bathroom, and that we would have OSX allowing us to get s**t done in the background (pardon the pun).
What this means is no time-wasting surfing in bed on Sunday morning, just concentrate on getting some stuff done, but use the 5 minutes on the bog to d/l the email.
Simple.
PS. You obviously don't live anywhere near New York, dude.
great thread!

I don't use it on the throne..... but I do have a 15" Ti that is on a swivel over the hot tub! The swivel is wall mounted and intended for a small TV, but I have a 54" magnavox hooked up to Direct TV ((mostly Tech TV). Great for relaxing!

Remember the episode of Seinfeld when George tried to return a book. He was denied at every branch of the bookstore he went to, each time being told the book was "marked" as having been in his bathroom. Imagine being told your AppleCare was invalid because your PowerBook was used in the john. Don't know why I thought of this. It seemed more relevant when I began typing....
P.S.: Guess where I am now...

I have trouble getting my 17" through the tiny doors they put on bathrooms in Hong Kong, so normally I just take my iBook in instead. Wireless gave me a whole new meaning to the word portable, err potable LOL

Okay, here's an idea. Perhaps a new website devoted totally to the porcelain blogger. We'll call it iLog.

Still...this is a great thread. If the poll were still open, I'd add a vote.

THIS is why I waited for the new 15" lol.

I'm looking forward to watching some movies on the john on my new powerbook when it arrives. Although I'm sure i don't take that long....I may just prolong the process if it proves enjoyable.

Heh yeah, it grosses me out too. Why would someone be spending that much time in their to begin with. If you had that good enough of reason, should you even be typing on your powerbook? Maybe invest in some Metamucil, or start eating some fibrous fruits and veggies so you won't miss the time away.
On the other hand if you're doing other things, I'm not sure what to say...

I do it almost daily but I'm not sure what's gross about it. I sit my powerbook down, have a seat, pick up my powerbook and continue with what I was doing. Once finished, I set my powerbook down, "do the paperwork", wash my hands, pick up my powerbook and take it back to the couch.
If you use my method there is no contamination.
Remember to disconnect iSight.
BTW: my TiBook 500Mhz will be up for sale in around 20 dayz.
