I have a bird that sits in a cage, I guess it's a cockatiel, and i feel so bad for it. All it does is sit and potty all over the orlando sentinel. I wish it could fly around, but I'm afraid it will fly out a window and get eaten by a snake. i have this friend that told me the best way to keep a bird healthy and happy is to tie its leg to a cieling fan and turn the fan on, this way the bird can fly around in circles for hours. he showed me one time with his bird and it worked, but when i did this to my bird, he flew back into the fan, he hit one of the blades, and the string tangled up the fan which caused it to stop spinning. i spent almost an hour untangling the string, but after I fixed it, i tied my bird up again and gave it another go. THIS time i taped a drawing of a cat to the center body of the fan, but the same things went wrong.

could somebody tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Next time take a rope, make sure the ceiling fan is good and strong, then tie the noose end of the rope around YOUR neck, the other end to one of the paddles, then turn the fan on HIGH.

:o

Firstly I can't decide if your post is real or just your patented stupidity. I'll treat this as real...

Go to a vet, get its wings clipped. It'll be able to fly but won't be going outside. Oh, an please explain how the hell a snake is going to eat a bird

I hope it pecks your eyes out.

I once had a pet bird that got its leg tangled in a fishing line i used to feed it worms. I had to amputate the leg off, to save my precious bird.

Wanting to cut back on bird food, and not knowing what to do with this leg, i chopped it up and fed it back to my bird. I think he enjoyed it...Maybe it even tasted like chicken....

...I don't know...?

Problem is, you're tying his leg to the fan. Just lay him on his side on top of one of the blades and tie him down that way. This has the added benefit of acting as a seat belt in case the blade should accidentally let loose from the fan and fly across the room. Things could get ugly if he's not secured.

This has always worked with my wife, seems to me that substituting a bird should make little difference, save for flying bird-poop.

If you aren't completely appalled, then you haven't been paying attention.

This reminds me of that commercial where cat gets it paw stuck to the ceiling fan string. It's pretty funny.
