And the memory bus is DDR, not DDR2, so they're completely incompatible signal-wise. How much cheaper?

Darn! =|

It's almost half the price of PC2700... If only NewEgg delievered to Canada. NewEgg has Crucial 1GB for about $125US, so even with shipping and exchange, it's still much cheaper than Canada buying Kingston ValueRam... which won't even work in my PowerBook.

What about PC3200 ram, will that work?

I just got a 1gb PC3200 Kingston Valueram stick last weekend for my 12" rev a that uses PC2100. The new ram works fine with no problems. WOW feels so much better and the computer should last until the PB Mactels come out. I got the ram at a local authorized store for $299.00 CDN with tax. Most other places in the Toronto area are selling the same stick for $300 -$400 plus tax. I know $299.00 is a litte steep compared to what you can get online but they gave me a credit for my old ram and eveything was done in less than 30min.

PC3200 is often cheaper than PC2700 for some reason. I'm running PC3200 in my iBook.

PC3200 is usually close to the same price as PC2700. Thus, I'm running PC3200 in my iBook.

Not Kingston, but Kingmax PC3200 1 GB is only CAD$179 in Toronto.

I have 512 MB of the Kingmax in my iBook 1.33 and it works just fine, which isn't surprising, especially considering it really only needs PC2100 (like your PowerBook).
