So my 12" PB finally arrived here are some initial thoughts:
Good
- Apple & Fedex did an amazing job on delivery.
- The machine is super quiet.
- Why didn't I switch earlier? OSX is slick.
- Mail/Internet was ridiculously easy to setup.
- 12' screen @ 1024x768 is perfect for normal usage
- Smartest charger/AC unit I've ever seen
- Cable maintenance clips ingenius.
- Two finger scolling is great.
Bad
- Rubber feet on bottom do not keep machine level.
- Weird (extra?) glue found on button that releases lid.
- Single button mouse is going to take a wihle to get used.
- Cannot tap touch-pad to click.
Some pictures:

I promise this my last post on general isssues, I will barring any problems be retiring to the OSX message board now

Of course you can tap the touch pad to click. Go to Keyboard and Mouse preferences and enable clicking under the trackpad "tab." Done.

Nice !!!
How's about creating a text file called "index.html", pasting the code below in it, and saving it to your /powerbook directory. It'll help
Code:
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 TRANSITIONAL//EN">
<html>
<head>
<title> 12" Powerbook</title>
</head>
<body>
<center>
<img src="IMG_2.jpg"> <br><br><br>
<img src="IMG_0002.jpg"> <br><br><br>
<img src="IMG_0003.jpg"> <br><br><br>
<img src="IMG_0004.jpg"> <br><br><br>
<img src="IMG_0005.jpg"> <br><br><br>
<img src="IMG_0006.jpg"> <br><br><br>
<img src="IMG_0007.jpg"> <br><br><br>
<img src="IMG_0008.jpg"> <br><br><br>
<img src="IMG_0009.jpg"> <br><br><br>
</center>
</body>
</html>

Heh .. I just wanted to see them all quickly. I just looked back at your main site and realized that you probably know how to do this already
So, is this your first Mac ... or just a new PB ?

It is my first Mac however I have been supporting a team of graphic designers at work and my wife on her powermac. Funny thing up until last year I hated them but now I love them.
The reason I posted the big jumble of images with no HTML in the beginning was that I was so excited to show my buddies the pictures.

Glad you like your new machine. I switched to Macs five years ago. Ever since OS X 10.2 and the last generation of consoles came out I can't find a reason why anybody would want to use a Windows PC apart from the initial cost. Emphasis on initial. In the long run a Mac doesn't fall apart or age as fast as a Windows PC.

Philc, first of all, congrats on your new PowerBook. Welcome to Macintosh.
I'm interested in that last bit of your quote. Where does that come from that PC people who never use Macs hate them? I mean, why do people hate a Mac even if they don't know them. People curse Windows because it doesn't work like it should or because it attracts viruses/adware/spyware. People are afraid of Linux because they think it's difficult. But people hate Macs because they don't know them? Why?
[no offense intended, I'm really just curious to hear it from somebody who's been there]

I think it has to do a lot with the way most people associate Macs with their users and community. Compared to the PC side, they are a lot more elitist and uninviting.

Simon, I have draft more than one response to your question and subsequently erased it. This is a difficult question to answer and I think it is an interesting question. I am going to write a full response in my blog within a few days. I will follow-up with you on the link.
