No, I honestly don't want an iPhone. About 50% of the new threads during the last few weeks has been about the iPhone. In 7 years on this forum I've never seen a subject that generated as many threads. Sure it's exciting for Apple and Apple fans like us, but I just don't get the hype. I agree it's probably the most revolutionnary phone out there, but even if I'm a gizmo and gadget freak, I don't like cell phones. The idea of being accessible at all time is not for me.

Therefore starting a symbolic thread about something else than an iPhone. I don't even escape the trend 'cause this thread IS about the iPhone in another kind of way....

I know OSX did generate more threads than anything else over the years,

I'm talking about momentarily taking all the place. Generating an insane amount of threads in such a little period of time. Compare the iPhone posts versus the Leopard posts. There is more than 15,000 articles written all over the media in just a few weeks, not even the iPod generated such a buzz. It's usually what I call hype. The iPhone is just a device, although I agree it's a neat device that will change the face of the industry, but it's not the technical core of anything. OS X is another story in itself, it's so much more than a phone. It's the core of Apple, no pun intended. It's even the core of the iPhone itself...

I'm more fascinated by the phenomenon than the phone.
