Sorry man. 99% logic board. 1% chance it's the power supply, even though #1 is lit.

Yep it's the logic board. This seems to be a fairly common issue with these G5s.

tech told me i missed extended warranty by a couple of weeks.
he set up a time for local apple store tech to look at it.
i just got back from apple store, tech sayes it power supply??
its out of warranty but we will take care of it.
so it looks like it going to get fixed at n\c

On its 4th year, my imac started random + complete shutdowns for long periods. My Imac g5 had its power supply and logic board replaced (under extra applecare), as well as the new memory card replaced (repair shop-issued). My applecare has run out. After 3 visits to the Apple-recommended repair shop, I'm stuck with a piece of furniture that looks good but is useless. This computer is only 4 years old and I don't have 1600$ to get another imac!! - Not that I'm crazy about this. After the lousy attitude at the repair shop who won't give me a warranty for repairs or parts that didn't work, and Apple refusing to take any responsibility for further repairs or any replacement. Nobody seems to be able to resolve this random shutdown problem even though I see a lot of mac users with this problem. This is very upsetting. Computers should last longer than 4 years at that price!! (I haven't heard of this problem with PCs.
