I have a fw400 canon zr80 and want to import video to imovie on my mbp which only has fw800

has anyone used this cable? thanks!

I did what you should do and I Googled your camcorder specs. Accorging to Canon's website, the ZR80 uses a "Special 4-pin connector (based on IEEE 1394)." Not sure what this means but I think you should contact Canon and not hope an off the shelf firewire cable works.

Yes, this will work. 4-pin Firewire is nothing "special." That cable is what you need.

It'll work, but holy hell, that's one expensive FireWire cable. You can get them elsewhere (for example: here) for a lot less.

I didn't think it was that bad compared to the first camcorder firewire cable I bought ~5 years ago was around $80 I believe. Ill check out the link.

I bought a Firewire 400 cable for <$10 form some third party in Washington State (I forgot who). Shop around...
