imovie and sony dv firewire camcorder and new imac

i have alot of home movies on 8mm dv tapes. and i need to know how will i import my video
when the new imac does not have a firewire port. is there an adapter from firewire to lightning?
i know sony used to make a box that converted analong to dv but that used a firewire to conect to the mac.

You mean Thunderbolt, right? Lightning is the Apple's dock connector for iPhone/iPad.

Um...Did you look at the $29 link I supplied? It's a Thunderbolt-to-Firewire adapter, so you can connect your DV cam to a Thunderbolt Mac.

Lightning is the connector for new iPods, iPads, and iPhones.
It is useless for DV.
These are not the connectors you are looking for.
