Ok, so this thread will probably be locked (sorry mods), but I have to ask: What happened to daimoni? He apparently went back and edited/removed all 7396 of his posts. Did I miss something?

That must have taken a REALLY long time.

If that is true that is almost as scary as having 25,000 posts to you name.

He got sick of stuff here, and didn't want his words, which as posted are apparently the property of MacNN, out there as fodder.

Yes, it took him a long time.

Yes, it could be described as sad.

It could also be described as paranoid....or principled...or foresightful.

Only time will tell.

And yes, we did rib him about it.

I figured.

I just don't understand what could drive someone to literally spend hours removing thousands of their old posts.

Why the hell would you go and edit all your posts?

BTW, I found a couple he missed. There are probably more, but these two were on the first page:

One, where he says he's ignoring LoganCharles and two, where he is defending Lerk.

Yeah, no kidding. What an enormous waste of time. He could have found a way to automate the process, I suppose. But wouldn't have been easy.

I thought Demonhood cleared that up and explained that MacNN does not own the content of our posts in these forums.

Ah well.

Edit: Found the thread. Guess they own the text but not the ideas contained within.

But they do hold the copyright on the words we use, even if the ideas are our own. Some may find that troubling. Obviously it doesn't bother me, but y'all wanted to know the why so I told you.

That would be one of the funniest things ever at MacNN. I can just hear him now...

[puff|puff|puff]What? I thought I deleted these. Maybe I just dreamed it. Oh, well. I guess I should get cracking. This will take a while[puff|puff|puff]

We used to have folks like that on IRC that would leave in a huff claiming that they wouldn't be back.

Only to show up a week or so later using a different nick or something of the like.

But yeah, the whole deleting posts. That is about silly.

Lerk did the same thing awhile back. Quit MacNN forever again, and deleted his posts.

I guess when he spazzed out, he didn't want anyone to have proof of it so we could laugh at him.

Yep, you won't see me going back and removing all of my posts, like a huge loser who is full of crap.

Daimoni has posted so much outrageous political crap, that he must've realized his foolishness after he laid down the crackpipe, and he decided to edit/remove his posts, when he read them again with a sober state of mind.

The loser must've spent like 12 hours deleting his trash. Hehehehe.

If it took on average 15 seconds per post...

15 * 7396 / 60 / 60 = 30 hours.

Let me make it clear for you, since you obviously don't know what a loser is.

Anybody who spends years on some message board, posting thousands of threads, and then one day, in a rage of liberal desperation decides to spend countless hours (or days) erasing everything they have ever written is a LOSER. Now, that's not such a hard concept to comprehend is it ?

You know, there are those who would say that those of us who are still here are the real losers. We who know Dai in real life anyway can assure you that he's doing fine, and doesn't miss this kind of bullsh*t at all.

Nope. Discovered the lounge and got addicted. Shame on me.
I only have one more alias that I once used one time for fun, and even with that, I didn't try to hide my identity because it involves a turtle as well

So try again, Sherlock !

Well, its probably childish to delete all of your old posts, but I just looked at the standardized links for searching all posts by user, editing posts, etc. Looks like something that could be at least partially automated (if not fully automated) without too much effort.

yeah, I was thinking the same thing. the only thing interesting about this thread was the idea of some going through thread by thread, deleting everything.

If that took like 10 seconds per post it'd have to be over 20 hours or so (somebody do the math). A simple way to check is to see at what times the posts were edited and see if there's much of a difference.

Or we could just get a life...

Do they still have flood control? i.e. you can only post or edit a post once a minute. Factor in the efficiency of post by post and you could probably only do like 40 or 50 an hour. He prolly did it over the course of many, many days whenever he was extremely bored.

Whatever floats your boat, no big deal really.

I think he did it by hand. The times would have been much closer, more than 2 or 3 within a minute's time, if done by some automated method.

However, he did not do it all at once. Looking somewhere in the middle, there were a bunch edited on a particular day in May. Later ones had edited dates in July. Apparently it was just a philosophy of his not to leave his posts around too long.

Odd and paranoid indeed.

my guess it that it will take you lot longer to bitch and whine about it, while he gets on with his life.
