Thought ping this topic again since it's been a few months...

Has anyone found any other source for 1GB PC2700 DDR SODIMM than
TransIntl.com seen here or has anyone shelled out the $1400
to get a couple of them? (and if so, was it worth it?)

Until someone else starts manufacturing them, I don't see any hope of
the price coming down any time soon.

Welcome to the MacNN Forums!

As of now, that source is your only option. The benefits of having over 1GIG of RAM in your PB just doesn't justify the cost right now.

Well, if it's a 200-pin SODIMM that goes into a PowerBook, and if it'll take PC 2100 memory, then why not get a 1GB stick from Dell for more than half the price? They have it listed for $650 (that's $750 less).

With a system bus of 167MHz (or less), it doesn't matter if it's PC2100 or PC2700, it's not really going to take advantage of either DDR speed. I am just wondering what's compatible and what isn't.

Here is the link.

i beg to differ. a 133 MHz system bus (PB12") will take advantage of DDR266 ram (PC2100) while a 167MHz system bus (PB17") will take advantage of DDR333 ram (PC2700)

Thanks. I'm comming over from the Dell camp where I spent most of my time fooling around with video drivers and even if they had PC2700s at that density, I wouldn't expect them to lead the price wars. I've heard other people mention the sub $300 or $200 range and I'd probably buy a pair somewhere in there.
