Hi there,

I just got a new job and when I'm at work, I can't connect to AIM using iChat, or any other AIM client for that matter. I get a message that says "Could not connect to AIM. The host refused the connection, try again later."

I've tried various public proxies but couldn't make any of them work.

I don't believe I have access to the firewall. Our connection runs through a machine running Windows Server 2003, and I haven't the first clue how to use that.

Can someone help me? The guy who had the job before me used to IM me all the time, so I know there's a way.

Thanks -

A.

Hey, that's actually not such a bad website. Thanks. If it comes to it, that'll be what I end up using.

Does anybody know of a way to manipulate iChat into working, though? Is there a reason that running iChat through proxy wouldn't work? If not, can somebody walk me through it really quickly?

Have you tried AOL's own AIM client? It may be that iChat is more respectful of other network traffic than AIM; if the standard port iChat uses has been disabled by your network admins, it could fail. But AIM may work nonetheless.

Try setting iChat to use port 80.

Though they could be just blocking access to oscar altogether.
