My company has entrusted me with the task of finding content management software for a news site we're starting. I will the sole updater of the news, so it only has to work on a Mac.

Are there any good, free content managers out there? Or what better software could I get if I paid?

I don't know about web site content management but I use DEVONthink PE to handle vast amounts of data. Its fuzzy logic capabilities allows me to search for similar articles within the database.

You can read this fella's blog about how he used DEVONthink

http://www.stevenberlinjohnson.com/m...es/000230.html

Go to the DEVON technology web site and look for newsletters. The articles show several examples of how people from various industries have used DEVONthink to help with content management.

I've also seen HogBay NoteBook or NoteTaker as a way to help you manage content.

I use iViewMedia Pro for photo content management.

Waiting for the new DEVONthink Pro to come out.....

You might want to check out Ted Goranson's series of articles (begun in Sep '03 through present) on Outliners, Task Managers, and even some CMS.

Ignore the argumentative nature of this poster. He is old and can't engage in meaningful dialog
very long. Therefore, management asks that you at least humor him. Thanks.

I'm a big fan of Geeklog. It's very secure, is in active development, and is free.
