Someone cooked some in our break room at work. I can now focus on nothing other than wanting bacon.

I'm having something with bacon as the main focus for dinner tonight. Maybe bacon wrapped bacon. Can't decide.

I have never had bacon in my life, but I still wanted to participate in this thread.
Is bacon really as good and versatile as everyone makes it out to be?
Now I'm hungry too.

Apart from religious reasons, there is no excuse for not having tried a bacon sandwich.

Bacon makes almost anything better. People wrap it around things all the time to improve the flavour, even cooking things in grease that was used to fry bacon makes most things better. Essentially its just very very salty. I see there are kosher bacon alternatives made from lamb and even duck but I can't imagine they are quite as good. Would it be a useable loophole if you genetically engineered a pig without trotters? Or feet? The relevant passage is something about feet or hooves isn't it?

Do you know where I can get duck bacon? The (non-jewish) attorney in the office next to mine always jokes that we should go into business selling it as a kosher alternative to pig bacon. Personally, when I need to wrap food in a meat I use pastrami. Why anyone would make meatloaf without covering it in pastrami is beyond me. I guess that is how everyone feels with regard to bacon.
Do all of the people that dislike bacon dislike salty foods or does the overlap not work that way?

Pastrami on a meatloaf, this I have to try. The problem is I can't get any real wet stuff, and in order to get the bacony effect you need the fat. Because bacon is not only, or even primarily salty. It is the rich umami based richness of a luscious mouthfeel, thanks to meat and fat that makes it so desirable. And the nose of aromatic smoke.
