Bonus suggestion from me, even though I haven't played it yet: Con Man, by two guys who used to be in some TV show 15 years ago - Shaddim's new username and his pilot.
The new Mac Pro has up to 30 MB of cache inside the processor itself. That's more than the HD in my first Mac. Somehow I'm still running out of space.

Now that I have played it... it is actually really fun. I was afraid that it would be free-to-play hell, but except for the guy that nags you about watching an ad about once a day, there is nothing like that. The bigger booths take along time to build (which can be sped up with an in-game currency. I think that there is a way to pay for that currency with money, although I haven't even found it yet, so it is absolutely not being pushed in your face) but time goes when you're not having the app open, so just start a build one day and come back the next to see it finished.

I wish ConMan had more to do besides empty trash cans and tap for money. strategy-wise, it's no clash of clans. It is fun seeing the little puns on certain space shows... and cons in general. Kevin Smith as security, ha! Joss the Janitor! but even with battling the occasional alien it's getting old. Level 17. The ad fairy is nicely done though and not too bad, as you say.

Sonic CD is chock full of ads. A little fun for nostalgia, but then I've got it on Wii if I want that.

I use Sketches Pro all the time. Great iPad app, especially with a stylus. I'd put it ahead of 53's Paper in terms of UI and usefulness as an art tool (Paper used to be the best drawing app going, but the developers made a long line of really bad UI changes that really put-off a lot of the artist user base.)

At level 24, I deleted ConMan. There comes a point when cleaning up virtual puke and trashcans becomes tedious.

I stopped somewhere around there as well. A bit weird that I had only got a couple of the superfans upgraded one level (there are five) and there seems like there should be more to the game there, but it got boring.

Similar to card games, I wish CYOA type interactive fiction appealed. I'd be like the proverbial pig in poop.

It is not as good as I'd hoped. Somewhat cheesy dialogue, and with modern computing, I'd have hoped for more than the old "2 choice" CYOA.

I was spoiled by a game from the late 80s Mac game named Portal. How's that for crummy SEO?

The conceit was you returned from space to find Earth deserted. You come across an AI, and interact with it in the hopes of what happened to humanity. The entire game was interacting with the AI.

This just nailed it. Excellent story. Perfect framing device. Put a fork in the medium.

"I'm thirsty. Is it safe to eat snow?"
_ Yes, it's just frozen water
_ Maybe a little, to be safe

Awhile back, I DL'ed this developer's game called Lifeline... You're a radio operator and you converse with the survivor of a crashed space ship on a distant planet. Pretty much the same clunky dialogue and strictly-directed ending while trying to make you think you're in control.

It's charming, slightly challenging but not frustrating little time waster. The puzzles are not too hard but not boring, and don't get into the extreme repetitiveness of some puzzle games. The little videos and snippets of story you find along the way are also fun rewards.
