I stopped after level 5. That tiny map is a pain in the ass.

Got no further than level ten. Totally missed some tiny little island (Saint Kitts and something-something? What? St. Kitts and Nevis, apparently, according to the dictionary)—sounded more like a South-Pacific island than a Caribbean one to me, so that was worth about 10,000 miles. Ouch.
Plus, I will never learn which one is Niger and which one is Nigeria.

This game is fun, but I agree that the map is too small. How can you pinpoint anything in Ireland when the cursor is the size of Ireland on the map. Then again, I just get really close to the screen. I don't know if it really helps or not but I can't seem to stop myself...maybe this is why I wear glasses.

Some friends of mine went through a phase of trying to outdo each other doing this game on facebook. I eventually gave up for several reasons. Map is too small, too many small islands, issues getting close when I knew exactly where something was, me not knowing most of the ever changing countries in Africa.
Its a good game though. I would love to see scores broken down by nationality. I would where the US of A would rank..... (I'm guessing low)

That map sucks ass, and those microscopic, little piss-ant islands* in the Pacific killed me.

I think I did ok, though. Will try again later after I've had a little sleep.
(My apologies to anyone who lives on any of those microscopic, little piss-ant islands.)

On this note, someone (I think it was abe) once posted a flash map where you could drag the names to all the countries in the Middle East. It was pretty cool at the time, and I did pretty well at it (of course, abe wished to tie it into some political commentary, but it's all good. )
That link doesn't work any longer, but I was wondering if anyone else knew of something similar to that, but on a world scale? I've always wanted to know all the countries of the world, and some sort of internet map would be great for it.
That map was simply too small. For example, I don't know if anyone else got Edmonton or Winnepeg, Canada – I lived there for 5 years and I only got 400 km away from both of them. I got the Battle of Hastings within 18 km in 1.8 seconds though.
Great little find.

Tried again a couple of times today.
Seriously, who the hell knows where exactly in that big blue blob of blueness known as the Pacific the Marianas are? And who’d have known that Bouvet Island (Norway) was nowhere near Norway, but somewhere between South Africa and the South Pole? Bastards. (Yes, it’s addicting)

297744 @ level 9.
Seriously though - I really sucked.. My first one, Copenhagen, Denmark. I clicked Norway. Duh.
I think I just got lucky by hitting a few right on (24km from Pyongyang, NK and like 50 from Myrtle Beach). I had a few where it show you a huge circle around the city it was asking for... and that circle almost took up the whole board. Like some island just west of Africa... I chose the S. Pacific.

I gotta say its kinda easy to bluff your way through it if you have any idea about general locations. I don't think I'd break 200k on a larger map. (Or maybe I would because locations I did know would be more exact...)

Agreed about the bluffing part. I’ve noticed that there are no less than four places listed for Jamaica, which is slightly smaller than a pixel on that map, so it’s pretty hard to miss if you know more or less where Jamaica.
Much harder once they start throwing 35-letter Russian towns you’ve never heard of at you. At one point (in level 3, I think!), it gave me Ittoqqortoormiit, too, which I don’t imagine many people can correctly place on a map (it neglected to tell me which country it was in for this one). But for all those Indonesian ones (gotta be at least ten places listed in Indonesia there), I just clicked somewhere in the middle of the country and bluffed my way through like that.

I got one in Kyrgyzstan exactly spot on. Complete and utter luck—the only city in Kyrgyzstan I know of is Bishkek and that wasn’t it (I think it was something with an S... Sibrenic---something), so I just clicked at some random place in the country.

How can that be? I got to level 12 twice—and both times, in level 11, it gave me some pissy little island that I thought was somewhere around Borneo, but which actually turned out to be just west of Peru, so about 15,000 km away (whoopsies).
